this is cool in principle, but shaky in practice because of how unbalanced some tiers will inevitably be against others. to use your example, starting Round 2 (eg 80 albums) off with a 25% quotient each of sputcore and acclaimed shit is a surefire way to ensure that the following rounds are monopolised by it
up for themes in principle, but this was the main reason we didn't do it this year. would have to be something totally arbitrary (artwork colour) or punitively un-arbitrary (proportion of dudes in the band) |

10.24.23 | Yeah I figured it’d be fiddly in practice and potentially have unintended knock on effects (half the classics and sputcore killed in round 1, then likely most other recs killed in round 2 by the surviving classics and sputcore, etc). I think you’d have to do more groups but smaller to make it work, but then that messes with the format and drives up admin = bad.
Maybe something more arbitrary like time of release but even then potential sillies could occur |
