Drifter 01.19.23	there's also the thing about separating bay area hip hop from socal because while you can just call it all g funk because by definition it is gangsta rap over funky instrumentals, the way the different regions do it varies. e-40's music sounds nothing suga free's but they're both associated under the umbrella of gfunk. the 'LA' sound of LA riverside and san bernardino is found elsewhere as is Mobb music of the bay area such as sacramneto which kind of adopts from both. some people think g funk only extends to death row or a little farther to just people associated with people from death row or LA but personally i believe it can be used interchangeably with both but LA music is certainly not Mobb music and almost all houston music could be classified under g funk especially from ugk and screwed up click but its obviously different from the california variety. i always called them cousins musically its complicated and i wish there were better ways of classification but thats why i just went for g funk. i was gonna include dirty south in my list but thats horribly broad and vague because it include anything from master p to tommy wright to z-ro which are not very similar
