Acquilistens: First Blood Part 2
Recent acquisitions, recent listens. Working on a semi-random listen of music, if you would like to see it, head to: www.last.fm/user/arrell |
1 | | Atheist Unquestionable Presence
Pretty cool. 'Tis solid progressive tech-death metal. |
2 | | Behemoth Satanica
Alright I guess. Not love at first hearing though. "Chant for Eschaton 2000" is a cool song. |
3 | | Gordian Knot Gordian Knot
User Txus just loled at me for comparing the band to King Crimson (Belew era). I think they sound similar, lots of wankerous riffs, ethereal, weird sounds. |
4 | | Kate Bush Hounds of Love
Nice. Various melodies I would like to plagiarise for my upcoming album (*snort). |
5 | | Life of Agony Soul Searching Sun
Average alternative metal. All the songs sound the same. |
6 | | Marduk Plague Angel
Rather noisy. |
7 | | Martina McBride Evolution
Don't think Sputnik has McBride on its database. Average to good modern country. |
8 | | Meshuggah Destroy Erase Improve
I'm not seeing the thrill in the one chord played in a crazy time pattern. Bald singers suck, except Maynard. |
9 | | Napalm Death Scum
Nice, very nice. Hard to describe... can't believe these guys are Englanders, didn't think such tea drinkers were capable of making music like this. This music belongs in the gulags of Russia and such. |
10 | | Obituary Cause of Death
Nothing really tickles my fancies here. |
11 | | Patti Smith Horses
Mmm... meh. Yeah, just meh. |
12 | | Ramones Ramones
Blitzkrieg Bop ftw. ohsosimplemusic. |
13 | | Shania Twain Come on Over
Pretty awesome. What a babe as well. Was racking my brains out before, deciding whether to listen to the original version or the international version (which is remixed to a more poppy sound). Went with the original, and am not complaining much. |
14 | | Sol Let There Be A Massacre
Thanks to Rasputin. Haven't given this more than one listen yet. "Boginki" is a nice track. |
15 | | Testament The New Order
Solid. |
16 | | The Clash London Calling
Title track or bust. Haven't given this more than the one listen yet. Kinda ridiculous how the local radios only play "London Calling" and "Rock the Casbah". As a result, those were the only two songs I had ever heard from the band. |
17 | | Tracy Chapman Tracy Chapman
Digging this. "Baby Can I Hold You" is a sweet song. Great singer. |
18 | | Victor Wooten A Show of Hands
The cheesy singing is cheesy. Epic bass work of course. Had been hoping for more of a funk band sound, rather than just solo bass. |
19 | | D12 Devil's Night
Eh, not bad. Best songs are the singles that were released from the album. |
20 | | Public Enemy Fear of a Black Planet
Nice, nice. Doesn't sound like any other hiphop album that I've heard. 'Alternative' if you will. |
21 | | RZA RZA as Bobby Digital in Stereo
Also nice. Really like his rapping style. |
