01.29.22 | Gotta go with folkstars here even though I’ve never even heard the podcast, but if he’s misleading people a protest like this is fine by me. |

01.29.22 | Also you should show some more interest in 1 and 2 |

01.29.22 | I really don't see the point. Even if Spotify would drop Rogan, he would just move back to Youtube while getting paid out his $100m by Spotify and his audience would be even bigger on YT. It would also give these right wing conspiracy tards even more ammunition to harp on the "anti free speech left" |

01.29.22 | Listen to Neil Young for Chrissake Ars, he’s one of the greatest guitarists and songwriters out there.
And yes they’re right to protest and remove their stuff even if I am still shamefully going to continue using Spotify myself. |

01.29.22 | I believe that Neil and Joni are completely right to protest Rogan's presence on Spotify. I'm not hugely familiar with the work of either (though I do have coworkers who are big fans of both), but I'm definitely going to support them through this. Given that Rogan openly promotes misinformation, compounded by the fact that he has been Spotify's biggest draw for a while now (even before the pandemic), I completely understand the problems Neil and Joni have with the service, and I am on their side completely. With the further catalog deletions that will likely take place soon -- I've heard rumors that the music of Pearl Jam and David Bowie may be gone from there soon, and given Eddie Vedder's very liberal politics, I don't doubt that PJ could be gone within two months tops -- this actually makes me rather happy that I never paid for Spotify (I used it for free on and off up until a few days ago, when I deleted it from my apps due to a mixture of disinterest and the aforementioned catalog deletions likely coming soon). I'm using YouTube Music Premium now (I've been using YouTube Premium since it was called YouTube Red), and I'm definitely preferring it to Spotify, without doubt.
So, yes, I am on their side -- I actually admire older artists standing up for what's right, since it shows that they refuse to get complacent even as they start to push 80 years of age. |

01.29.22 | admittedly I don't listen to Rogan but I have no problem with him giving a platform to people who are controversial. Maybe they spread misinformation. Maybe they don't. That's for the listener to decide.
Is a podcast as a form of entertainment that different from a book? Does Young want his CDs removed from all libraries that won't ban books he doesn't like? |
Trebor.
01.29.22 | I used to listen to Rogan when he had a guest on I liked but oh boy has he gone off the deep end lately |

01.29.22 | listen to both of these artists ars they are good |

01.29.22 | I grew up with a lot of Neil Young (my Dad’s a huge fan) and I just never could get past his granny cat singing
Joni’s a different story… may check Blue and or Canyon soonishhhh |
Storm In A Teacup
01.29.22 | Saw a couple clips of Joe from the last couple months and it is suprising how far gone he is peddling stoner stupidity as being critical thinking. He is obviously pushing narratives and implementing strategies of doubt and deflection etc with anything that challenges him. The man is truly a con artist now. |

Storm In A Teacup
01.29.22 | Neil Young has a couple classic albums actual 5 out of 5s. Weird Ars doesn't know him |
combustion07
01.29.22 | What is the controversial thing from Rogan that's causing them to protest? Is it a specific episode that they're finding ultra problematic? I listen to occasional Rogan episodes but it's really only if it's a comedian I'm really into or someone who has an interesting book I wanna learn more about. Never been a Rogan fan honestly but he does get some awesome guests every once in awhile and I don't mind sitting through some of his derailment to hear more from them |
combustion07
01.29.22 | Ah nevermind I did my Google's lol. Coming from someone who misses the days where YouTube was running rampant with insane, brain melting conspiracy theories I'm kinda pro running your mouth with out there ideas and as mentioned above if he gets kicked from Spotify he just goes back to his even bigger YouTube/all platforms audience. All that being said it's sad that there's a decent chunk of people that even possibly take Rogans podcast of some kind of daily dose of fact |
DominionMM1
01.29.22 | the irony of neil young taking this position is funny to me |
JKing92
01.29.22 | Wait... where's the irony? Was he an anti-vaxxer at one time?
I am asking this to be serious, for what it's worth. |
DominionMM1
01.29.22 | he’s been peddling anti gmo bullshit for years despite the fact that experts have deemed them perfectly safe |
theBoneyKing
01.29.22 | Young was very resistant to Spotify for a long time, only joining the platform a few years ago, so part of me wonders if this is just him taking an excuse to jump ship again. |
SlothcoreSam
01.29.22 | Steve Sladkowski, the guitarist for Canadian rock band Pup, gave one explanation why, tweeting, "It rocks that Neil can take his music off [Spotify] but the fact remains that the vast majority of us can't afford to do that because the (very meagre) royalties are one of the few ways to cobble together any semblance of a living." |
ArsMoriendi
01.29.22 | Maybe if a lot of the musicians who can afford to leave do (IE the more popular, more listened to, more successful ones,) they can leverage a better deal for those who can't?
Ideally, maybe not realistically |
