08.04.21 | Sporkcore is a genre title created in the late 00's/early 10's by the racist image board known as 4chan. Named as a reference to the "Katy t3h PeNgU1N oF d00m" copypasta being spread around at the time, the term was originally used as a derogatory term for artists and groups who see being purposefully random or unpredictable as being clever or humourous, frequently slamming as many styles or genres into one section as possible for no apparent reason, with ska, punk, and alternative metal being frequently in the roster. Sporkcore as a concept is also inherently tied to the "scene" subculture of the 2000's. It stuck for a while as a dead meme on 4chan until some asshole named "creakyboardz" on rym discovered the term in 2019, realized she loved both sporkcore as a term and the music being called it, and decided to "reclaim" the term by making a guide to sporkcore on rym that got mildly popular.
