🏃‍♂️May SOTD 2021🏃‍♀️

I have no patience for mediocrity, so the theme this month are songs that are under a minute. 59.999999999999999999999999999999 seconds max! Playlist:
The Punch Line

"Search" (ArsMoriendi)

The punk kings of short songs!
2Minor Threat
Minor Threat

"Straight Edge" (YoYoMancuso)

My favorite memory with this song is playing it during a presentation I gave in my speech class and everybody hating it.
3Mannequin Pussy

"Drunk I" (Pangea)
Pink Flag

"Field Day for the Sundays" (DadKungFu)

Catchy, incisive and as minimalist as it gets. Not a wasted second on this track.

"Self Destruct" (budgie)

"I'd Buy That for a Dollar" (Minushuman24)
7DJ Krush

"AM 300 TAG" (Trifolium)

My superhero. This man has so much style and all of his stuff rules. Hmmm!!!
8Flying Lotus
Los Angeles

"Auntie's Harp" (normaloctagon)
9Naked City
Grand Guignol

"Bonehead" (ReefaJones)
10Jack Stauber
Shop: A Pop Opera

"Coffee" (rifkadm)

I would also recommend watching the little claymation video for this too! It’s cute.

"Generational Divide" (Divaman)

This is about the best I can do, given the parameters.
12Frank Ocean
channel ORANGE

"Fertilizer" (nolerthebowler)

This may be off Frank’s album, but I’m really reccing this song for who wrote it: James Fauntleroy. This was the first I’d heard of him, but he went on to co-write, produce, and star in some of my favorite projects from the last decade, including Kendrick’s To Pimp a Butterfly, JT’s 20/20 Vision, and Bruno’s 24k Magic. Despite his prolific status in the music industry, he’s all but unknown except in the most elite circles. So have a little music history lesson with this short-but-sweet bit of Stevie Wonder worship!
13Bad Religion
All Ages

"Do What You Want" (SlothcoreSam)

A version that's 59 seconds, on the All Ages LP. It's live, but still great.
14The Secret
Solve Et Coagula

"Where It Ends" (dedes)
15Converge/Napalm Death

"No Light Escapes" (tyman128)
Dance Tonight! Revolution Tomorrow!

"Anna Karina" (TVC15)

A great 15 second song named after an awesome actress

"The Eyebright Bugler" (JohnnyoftheWell)

okay we've already got a lot of the obvious shi (Converge/Orchid/Naked City/Wire) and it's so easy to rec hardcore or grind here that imma go wholesome instead
18Guided by Voices
Vampire on Titus

"Wondering Boy Poet" (porcupinetheater)
19Jazz Liberatorz
Fruit Of The Past

"Music in My Mind Part 1" (dedex)
All My Heroes Are Cornballs

21Psychedelic Porn Crumpets
And Now for the Whatchamacallit

"Fields, Woods, Time" (LeddSledd)

Ok I know I've shared these guys on SOTD before but this interlude is too lush and dense with that good shit not to put it down.
22The Forms

"Stel 1." (fogza)
Double Nickels on the Dime

"Astrální Bytosti" (someone)

The lyrics are beautiful, but you'll have to take my word for that. the singing is too... you should hear it for yourselves.

the story behind that is that Milan Princ, a Czech poet, was close to dying 6 years ago and asked his musician friends to turn his poems into songs. and this was one of them
24Jon Brion
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

"Elephant Parade" (anatalier)
25Troye Sivan
In A Dream

"Could Cry Just Thinkin About You" (ieatbabies795)
A Queen, A King, And a Very Blueberry

"Do the Moo Shoo" (neekafat)

Sorry boys I only rep the classics
Angel Youth

"From the Subway Train" (JesperL)
Angel's Egg

"Givin' My Love to You" (farmerobama)
29The Stone Roses
The Stone Roses

"Elizabeth My Dear" (zakalwe)

When I first heard this as a teen it was cool and rebellious. Listening to it now as a middle aged bloke in his forties the thing still carries a menace and threat. Can’t knock a bit of Scarborough Fair either.
