Song of the Day August (ft. ArsMoriendi)

The theme this time around is -unlikely collabs/features.- Pretty much, pick a song that features two music artists who you wouldn't expect to work together. Please say who the featured artist is as well. None of that "obviously they'd work together shit."

August 1st: ArsMoriendi
"Thrush" (ft. Jennifer Charles)

Weird industrial/post-punk artist featuring chill dream pop singer.
2Bohren und der Club of Gore

August 2nd: Josh D.
"Catch My Heart" (ft. Mike Patton)

Seems wrong to pick anythign with Mike Patton because he's Mike Patton and can do everything, but when I first heard Bohren und der Club of Gore's "Catch My Heart" I was still blown away.

3Bad Religion
The Empire Strikes First

August 3rd: SlothcoreSam
"Let Them Eat War" (ft. Sage Francis)

My favorite punk band featuring my favorite rapper. This collaboration works, flows seemingly throughout the song.
4Alice in Chains
Black Gives Way to Blue

August 4th: Minushuman24
"Black Gives Way to Blue" (ft. Elton John)

This song is an absolutely haunting tribute to layne.

August 5th: dedex
"Crystallise" (collab between Coldcut, Tony Allen, Shabaka Hutchings, Antibalas and South African rapper Yugen Blakrok)

Aight I'll go with Keleketla!, a project that got together (among others) Coldcut, Tony Allen, Shabaka Hutchings, Antibalas and South African rapper Yugen Blakrok
Splinters From An Ever-Changing Face

August 6th: JesperL
"Sands of Sleep" (ft. Tanner Merritt of O'brother)
7Gil Scott-Heron and Jamie XX
We're New Here

August 7th: Sinternet
"NY Is Killing Me" (collab between Gil Scott-Heron and Jamie XX)

Haunting and surreal, recorded just before gil died and you can hear him withering away in his vocals, yet he puts everything into it. blissfully deep and provocative, if you like the whole uk electronic scene circa a decade ago and still haven't heard this you're crazy.
Hold Your Fire

August 8th: Divaman
"Time Stands Still" (ft. Aimee Mann)
Para Quienes Aún Viven

August 9th: bgillesp
"Un Hombre" (collab between Toundra and Niño de Elche)

Completely unexpected combination if you listen to their independent works, but it is literally one of my favorite albums of all time, this song being my fav from the album. If you have the time, please watch the music video as well, but if not, it is still incredible. Just wait for the ending that explodes my heart every time. The (Español) lyrics are from a book of Spanish poems and are themed around devastation of war.
10Todd Terje
It's Album Time

August 10th: Pangea
"Johnny and Mary" (ft. Bryan Ferry)

Norwegian producer teams up with the brittish singer from Roxy Music to do a cover of a Robert Palmer song.
11Full of Hell and Merzbow
Full of Hell and Merzbow

August 11th: Aberf
"High Fells" (collab between Full of Hell and Merzbow)

Grind band and Noise producer. I mean, what could go wrong really. This track is sparser and sludgier than a typical Grind though.
12The Chariot
The Fiancee

August 12th: bloodshy
"Then Came to Kill" (ft. Hayley Williams)

August 13th: Lord(e)Po)))ts
"End of the Time" (ft. Korn)

Yep that's happening.

Jonathan Davis featuring Jonathan Davis

also featuring j dilla on production lmao.
original and remix

August 14th: JohnnyoftheWell
"Make Up Dub (Sofheso Remix)" (ft. Sofheso)

this is a collaboration between tentenko and sofheso. despite having reviewed this album i have no idea who sofheso is, so the collab is definitely unexpected and surprising. the song is a remix, but the release as a whole is a collaboration so go figure. this remix takes one of the very few good dub songs tentenko ever made and shits all over it. i hope you enjoy.
Blood Must Be Shed

August 15th: garas
"Total Warfare" (collab between Aldrahn (Dodheimsgard), Samoth & Ihsahn (Emperor) and Frost (Satyricon))

One of the most nihilistic piece of music I know, and this is a pretty "unreal" band combination. This song is a-must on my grumpiest days.
16Time Zone
World Destruction

August 16th: widowslaugh
"World Destruction" (collab between Afrika Bambaataa and John Lydon (of Sex Pistols))
17Armin van Buuren

August 17th: Trifolium
"In and Out of Love" (ft. Sharon den Adel (from Within Temptation)

Many of you will hate this. I loved loved loved it when it came out and it's kind of a guilty pleasure still. Den Adel of Within Temptation fame teams up with world renowned trance DJ Van Buuren. The only thing they have in common is that they're both Dutch.
18Every Time I Die
Low Teens

August 18th: deathofasalesman
"It Remembers" (ft. Brendon Urie)

One of my all-time favorite bands, Every Time I Die, making magic with one of my least favorite performers, Brendon Urie from Panic! at the Disco. Somehow it just works.
19Young Thug
On the Rvn

August 19th: ColeT
"High" (ft. Elton John)
20Getatchew Mekurya, The Ex and Guests
Moa Anbessa

August 20th: someone

"Musicawi Silt" (collab between Getatchew Mekurya, The Ex, and Guests)

An unlikely cometogether of dutch noise punk legends and an ethiopian saxophonist extraordinaire.
