Song of the Day August (ft. ArsMoriendi)

The theme this time around is -unlikely collabs/features.- Pretty much, pick a song that features two music artists who you wouldn't expect to work together. Please say who the featured artist is as well. None of that "obviously they'd work together shit." https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1yo9Aj7t1IZwG41xFgX9kzIugIsVckENq5RnQace1WDw/edit?usp=sharing

"Catch My Heart" (ft. Mike Patton)

Seems wrong to pick anythign with Mike Patton because he's Mike Patton and can do everything, but when I first heard Bohren und der Club of Gore's "Catch My Heart" I was still blown away.

"Let Them Eat War" (ft. Sage Francis)

My favorite punk band featuring my favorite rapper. This collaboration works, flows seemingly throughout the song.

"NY Is Killing Me" (collab between Gil Scott-Heron and Jamie XX)

Haunting and surreal, recorded just before gil died and you can hear him withering away in his vocals, yet he puts everything into it. blissfully deep and provocative, if you like the whole uk electronic scene circa a decade ago and still haven't heard this you're crazy.

"Un Hombre" (collab between Toundra and Niño de Elche)

Completely unexpected combination if you listen to their independent works, but it is literally one of my favorite albums of all time, this song being my fav from the album. If you have the time, please watch the music video as well, but if not, it is still incredible. Just wait for the ending that explodes my heart every time. The (Español) lyrics are from a book of Spanish poems and are themed around devastation of war.

"High Fells" (collab between Full of Hell and Merzbow)

Grind band and Noise producer. I mean, what could go wrong really. This track is sparser and sludgier than a typical Grind though.

"Make Up Dub (Sofheso Remix)" (ft. Sofheso)

this is a collaboration between tentenko and sofheso. despite having reviewed this album i have no idea who sofheso is, so the collab is definitely unexpected and surprising. the song is a remix, but the release as a whole is a collaboration so go figure. this remix takes one of the very few good dub songs tentenko ever made and shits all over it. i hope you enjoy.

"Total Warfare" (collab between Aldrahn (Dodheimsgard), Samoth & Ihsahn (Emperor) and Frost (Satyricon))

One of the most nihilistic piece of music I know, and this is a pretty "unreal" band combination. This song is a-must on my grumpiest days.

"In and Out of Love" (ft. Sharon den Adel (from Within Temptation)

Many of you will hate this. I loved loved loved it when it came out and it's kind of a guilty pleasure still. Den Adel of Within Temptation fame teams up with world renowned trance DJ Van Buuren. The only thing they have in common is that they're both Dutch.

"High" (ft. Elton John)

One of the more acclaimed songwriters and vocalists in music teams up with Elton John. Elton later stated: "it was a really nice meeting and I loved him. I left feeling full of energy as I do when I meet great new artists. He’s a really talented guy. I'd love to hear him sing more, and I said this to him when we met. He's got a great voice."

"Video Maniacs" (feat. Jørgen Munkeby)

It combines the talents of new-wave progressive rock group Four Stroke Baron with the eerie saxophone of the frontman of extreme jazz metal group Shining (NOR). I would hope this qualifies as an unlikely collaboration.

"The Fountain" (feat. Steven Wilson)

A progrock mastermind collaborating with a drum 'n base outfit was definitely not on my radar when this album came out. There was one even more unexpected collab on the record (with In Flames) but I've always preferred this song over Self vs Self.

"Chic Tweetz" (ft. Matt Berry (a British actor))

This song features Homme and his usual co., but also features vocals some from British actor Matt Berry, who as far as I know has nothing to do with music or Homme in general. Idk who got him here (or who's doing the lead vocals, no one knows that), but whatever its weird.
