| Top 10 Ulver Songs
I'll probably get some shit for not including more of their BM stuff, but I much prefer latter-day Ulver. What would your top 10 look like? | | 10 | | Ulver
Nattens Madrigal
"Hymne 1: Wolf And Fear" - Shit production yeeee. Seriously though, this goes hard af. Lovely cleans too. m/ | | 9 | | Ulver
Svidd Neger OST
"Wildcat" - Creepy. Beautiful. | | 8 | | Ulver
Messe I.X-VI.X
"Glamour Box" - A shining example of why I'm glad Ulver chose to go a more experimental route and redefine themselves album to album, so we can have original gems like this. The build is beautiful with subtle jazzy notes, leading to a wicked but fleeting climax of sorts. | | 7 | | Ulver
Shadows of the Sun
"Vigil" - Dark and beautiful as is the whole album | | 6 | | Ulver
Bergtatt - Et eeventyr i 5 capitler
"Soelen Gaaer Bag Aase Ned" - Definitely the best of their BM days, especially that ending. Their acoustic guitar passages (however fleeting) are Agalloch-tier. | | 5 | | Ulver
Sic Transit Gloria Mundi
"The Power of Love" - Cheesy or not, this is better than the entirety of Assassination - in fact, that goes for the EP as a whole. One of their most triumphant love songs. | | 4 | | Ulver
Blood Inside
"Blinded By Blood" - The highlight of an oft overlooked album. | | 3 | | Ulver
Wars of the Roses
"Island" - Their most underrated song. I'm a sucker for their atmospheric, melancholic stuff, and this hits the spot. Even like the cheesy bird sounds - and that latter half has some pretty neat experimentation going on. | | 2 | | Ulver
Perdition City
"Nowhere/Catastrophe" - Probably their strongest chorus ever. That synth is sublime. | | 1 | | Ulver
Shadows of the Sun
"Eos" - Someone should use this in a film score. One of their most emotionally powerful songs to date. "Someone dies, someone lives in pain". | |
Gyromania
09.17.18 | m/ er, wait. | Gyromania
09.17.18 | Shadows or Perdition | Hawks
09.17.18 | 10 is prob 1 for me in terms of Ulver songs but damn I would have to really sit down and think outside of that in terms of ranking them. | Gyromania
09.17.18 | Np!
Hawks: yea it was hard for me to think of just 10 | bloc
09.17.18 | Basically all the songs from the last album would make up my ranking | Trifolium
09.18.18 | Porn Piece, Providence, Lost In Moments, VI (Of Wolf And Passion), Son Of Man, Shadows Of The Sun and maybe even A Song Of Liberty would make my list. Definitely hard to rank though! | Artuma
09.18.18 | it's a pretty good list, really, considering it's just ten songs. bergtatt's closer though > | Rowan5215
09.18.18 | Eos is a great pick, would've given For the Love of God some love meself | Gyromania
09.18.18 | cheers guys.
Artuma: I can barely remember the closer. prob should have listened to Bergtatt again before making the list lol.
Rowan: that would def make my top 20, prob even top 10 depending on my mood. The ending is so damn catchy. Always love to see Blood Inside getting more love. That and Wars of the Roses seem kinda underrated.
Trifolium: Porn Piece, Providence, and Shadows were all vying for spots here too | parksungjoon
09.18.18 | seems very difficult to rank a band whose sound has changed so dramatically over the years, so props for trying
what do u think of hymne 4? does it make honourable mentions at least? | budgie
09.18.18 | list is ok | Gyromania
09.19.18 | hymne 4 is great, the whole album is excellent really | OldCrime
09.22.18 | 5 is a cover by Frankie Goes to Hollywood | budgie
09.22.18 | this list prompted me to check svidd neger out, haven't listened to it in yeears and yeears and yeeeears
