shows i saw this year

i think this is all of them?
1Julia Holter
Have You In My Wilderness

very nice. really cool to see her eclectic backing band in person, and she played In the Green Wild, which is my favorite of hers and i really wasn't expecting it so that was sweet
2Gorguts
Pleiades' Dust

(w Intronaut and Brain Tentacles) - killer fuckin show. the entire Pleiades' plus An Ocean of Wisdom, Inverted, and Orphans of Sickness? hell yeah.
3Between the Buried and Me
The Great Misdirect

(w Enslaved, Intronaut, and Native Construct) - honestly the highlight of this show was probably Enslaved, but BTBAM was surprisingly entertaining. i don't really listen to them anymore but the nostalgia was nice. we got Informal Gluttony right into Sun of Nothing, plus the second half of Backwards Marathon- twas a good time.
4Marika Hackman
We Slept at Last

(w The Big Moon) - one of the best shows on this list. wonderful energy and perfect execution, despite how nervous she seemed. only one song from her debut but her new one is so much more upbeat and fun that it was probably for the best, show-wise
5Colin Stetson
New History Warfare Vol 2: Judges

pretty cool, glad it wasn't any longer tho.. the endurance of this man..
6Matchbox Twenty
Mad Season

(w Counting Crows co-headlining) my first show at a casino lol. this was super fun 'cause these guys were the first band i really got into that wasn't Good Charlotte (hoo boy), and all they played was their hits. nostalgia overload. Counting Crows killed it too. Round Here got extended to like 8 minutes
7Inquisition
Into The Infernal Regions Of The Ancient

fuckin m/
8Acid Mothers Temple
Pink Lady Lemonade

left this one a little dizzy. goddamn.
9Echo and The Bunnymen
Crocodiles

not super into these guys, but i thought it'd be cool to see an older band still kickin around. Villiers Terrace and The Killing Moon were pretty sweet.
10The Mountain Goats
Tallahassee

fantastic show. so communal and just so damn fun. a lot of surprises in the set, and two encores. the first one was like four songs, and the second one was No Children. right when i figured it wasn't coming, it came. about as satisfying as a show can be, for a band that i only know like five out of a hundred albums from anyway
