| Tracklist Remix vol. 1: Deftones
There's a lot of albums that we've heard that have great songs but are marred by bad flow due to a subpar tracklisting; or there were some great songs that almost made the final cut but were dropped for whatever reason. There's several albums I could name off the top of my head like this. This list will focus on Deftones' self-titled | 1 | | Deftones Deftones
Side A: Needles and Pins
Opening riff has massive My Own Summer vibes and was originally the album opener for the album. Should've been the opener too | 2 | | Deftones Deftones
When Girls Telephone Boys
Interchangeable with the next track | 3 | | Deftones Deftones
Good Morning Beautiful | 4 | | Deftones Deftones
Battle-Axe | 5 | | Deftones Deftones
Lovers
I sometimes consider swapping this with Deathblow and make it end Side A so that's also up to you. Underrated 'Tones song too | 6 | | Deftones Deftones
End Side A: Bloody Cape | 7 | | Deftones Deftones
Side B: Hexagram
In the spirit of the structure of tracklistings when vinyls were the medium, they always seemed to have two openers almost like the album itself is a double album, each side presenting a different mood or texture with the songs chosen for the album. Hexagram makes for great Side B opener/centerpiece and kicks off the side with a more experimental and moodier side | 8 | | Deftones Deftones
Deathblow
Like I said, you could also swap this with Lovers if you like that | 9 | | Deftones Deftones
Lucky You | 10 | | Deftones Deftones
Minerva | 11 | | Deftones Deftones
Moana
I always thought this one would make a great, as I like to call, pseudo-closer which then lead into... | 12 | | Deftones Deftones
End Side B: Anniversary of an Uninteresting Event
...the epilogue. Always thought this would bring better closure to the album than Moana | |

12.01.16 | Next one is on an album that I consider heavily front loaded :-) | IronGiant
12.01.16 | this album has really grown on me over the past few months... I remember reading somewhere that it plays like a darker Diamond Eyes and I agree. Too bad Lovers was left off the track list and that the album suffered from pacing problems. I don't know if I agree completely with your order, but maybe that's because I'm use to hearing it straight through in its original order all these years. Excited to see the next list, keep up the good work | TVC15
12.01.16 | Yeah self-titled is top 5 Deftones for me, it's definitely their darkest album but it's biggest problem is the flow | onionbubs
12.01.16 | Oustanding album. Would be better with different flow. Im pretty set on the tracklist i use for it, as i think minerva makes a good opener
1. Minerva
2. Good morning beautiful
3. Needles and pins
4. When girls telephone boys
5. Battle axe
6. Lucky you
7. Hexagram
8. Lovers
9. Moana
10. Bloody cape
11. Deathblow
12. Anniversary | TVC15
12.01.16 | Onionbro, Bloody Cape is a great song, but twice? | onionbubs
12.01.16 | Shit i meant battle axe the first time lol | AlexKzillion
12.02.16 | One time I was bored and I reordered every Deftones album in my notes. Wish I still had it...
Anyways, I don't really think any track can really replace Hexagram as the opener here.
"11. Deathblow
12. Anniversary"
thiiiiiisssssssss | onionbubs
12.02.16 | See, there would be some individual editing made to the tracks here. Hexagram i think would be a perfect opener to side b, but with minerva, the opening chord progression could be extended, and like gradually fade in where the streets have no name style to prep the song up even more, making it a super epic way to open up the album.
Could work | chinesewhispers
12.02.16 | Deathblow followed by Anniversary is the only way to end this album | TVC15
12.02.16 | Hmmm I should try that Deathblow/Anniversary |
