Those vocals... Dany Tee?s voice is just something to behold in how versatile and intense they are. The guitar tone is simply beautiful and the drums and bass (yes, the bass is actually fairly audible!) are no slouch either.rNot a second is wasted in pummeling the listener with such pure and raw emotion. The lyrics are shockingly poetic in a genre that tries so hard to hide behind edginess and trve kvlt coldness. This is genuine pain made cathartic with the power of music. Listening to this makes my heart want to burst having overflowed with the emotions that I buried deep to forget. This is the first black metal album to bring me to tears and that?s really an accomplishment.

The amalgamation of everything loveable and kick ass about glam rock. Bolan?s guitar wizadry, Visconti?s production, and the infectious and beautiful melodies on every song makes for the perfect storm and makes for a masterpiece in not just glam but rock n roll. Metal Guru makes for one of my all time favorite album openers as well. Sorry Bowie, as much as I adore your music, I strongly believe this is the apex of glam rock.

This destroyed every preconceived notion I had of what was possible in modern atmospheric black metal. Sure, on the surface it sounds like a gimmick: vaporwave infused with black metal. Why not? Synthwave has started going down the path and the force behind this project is also the mastermind behind the similarly nostalgic synthwave act windows?96. But what becomes immediately clear is the amount of respect and care that was given to both genres to meld them so organically. The nostalgia of vaporwave synths makes the instrumentals depressive and gives it this unspeakably ethereal atmosphere so many black metal bands wish they could tap into. This is pagan fears with dull neon colours and rose colored glasses. This is ecco jams with inverted crosses and corpse paint. A hidden gem that deserves a listen from any music fan.

It's like Geogaddi but more dank and less obsessed with satanic imagery and more with D&D and hip hop. Most impressive is how the album is meant to be heard on shuffle with a crossfade of 5-6 seconds and every transition manages to be flawless and the flow of the record is fantastic. Wow.

Praise the album all you want but it takes way too much from David Bowie's glam era to be considered original r(you have to admit, I Don't Like the Drugs... Is a blatant rip off of Bowie's song Fame). Fun album definitely and rComa White remains a tear jerkingly beautiful ballad, but everything else here is a poor representation of MM rand what his songwriting chops is capable of. rEdit: how could I have been so wrong?!

Mayhem Live in Marseille 2000
The fucking peak of Maniac era Mayhem. The production is similar to Mediolanum capta est which boasted a more hi-fi sound than most black metal. Comparing the two shows, Mediolanum introduced the listener to Maniac's stage prescence, although the band and Maniac were still perfecting their chemistry. The DVD film of Live in Marseille 2000 provides a sharp contrast in how much more confident Maniac is on the stage evidenced by him doing more than just headbanging and air guitaring but also most notable in how improved his vocals are (probably thanks to how huge and theatrical the band's stage is). Hellhammer's drumming is insane (although it sounds like he was using Lars Ulrich's drum kit from the ...And Justice for All album... that or perhaps he used triggers) and Necrobutcher, and Blasphemer are top notch as always but purely listening to it as audio and watching the video, it's very clear how tight the performance is and how each member feeds of their energy and applies it to their performance. A must for every metalhead fan and essential for any Mayhem fan

In Utero is easily Nirvana's best studio output, no doubt, but even then that album had something missing that

of this concert is just pure energy and concise enough where the rslightly poor production doesn't outstay its
welcome and hinder the listening experience. Also, rextra kudos for having the bass and Pat's guitar easily
discernible, and not to mention, one of rthe best vocal performances you will hear Kurt give live that isn't from the

The ridiculous compression really kills the atmosphere of the entire album which is quite an accomplishment for the producer or whoever the hell was in charge of mixing the damn album. And no, that doesn't mean it's a bad album because of that because it's still very much listenable. The Live at the Basement rendition of this album really does it the justice it deserves tho

A big shame she's regarded as a one hit wonder with the song "Sunny Came Home". Ever heard of a country concept album? Well here's one right here. And it's pretty goddamed great. On the surface one may assume that it's proto-T Swift with the theme of break up and love gone wrong being a oft touched subject, but it's handeled with a lot of care and maturity with superb story telling and fantastic production to boot. That trippy cover art is also awesome

Skinny Puppy Mind: The Perpetual Intercourse
Industrial comes in many different shapes and sizes, sounds and aesthetics. Although this album isn't consistently cited as Skinny Puppy's best album, I believe that it by far is. It perfectly balances their dark, harsh atmosphere and a slightly accessible sound. Anyone needing a gateway into purer industrial music, look no further.

Spacemen 3 Forged Prescription
You better believe that these incarnations of the songs from Perfect Prescription are the definitive versions. The original was completely static in tone and mood to properly convey the whole concept of the album starting with getting high and then ending with that big come down when the high wears off. Even with the reordered tracklist, that initial concept is communicated far better than what was initially put out.

Looking past the big four of 90s Grunge, there is a lot of lost gems in that specific era of music. The packaging and overall sound for the 180 gram double LP vinyl is fantastic, Ric was not fucking around when he personally remastered these songs. It's a refreshing change from the old, worn out CD of the band's previous greatest hits which I've inherited from my dad. This is highly recommended to anyone who loves this band's singles as much as I do, however, what prevents this from being the perfect bundle is the glaring omission of Let the Good Times Roll which is probably the band's second best song (first being I'm Not the One).

Herbert Goodbye Swingtime
Simply going with the reputation Matthew Herbert has as well as the immense discography this guy has amassed (in fact, I kept looking for this album under the artist name The Matthew Herbert Big Band) I would have thought that there would be much more rating for this guy's work. Album is an excellent combination of big band (while also throwing in cool jazz, swing, and avant-garde jazz just to keep each track fresh) combined with glitchy electronica. However, the electronic elements are subtle and contribute to the the tone and aesthetics of the portraits that each track portrays while simultaneously adding additional layers on top of the instruments. For anyone interested in the likes of Nujabes or maybe even Flying Lotus, this is a must listen. Those who want to listen to an interesting modern jazz/jazz fusion album should also check out this overlooked gem

Pretty underrated. Depending on how much you tolerate Maniac's vocals, this is truly insane to listen to; the surprisingly clear production on the instruments (not necessarily the sound quality) gives an added depth to the performance while Maniac's interaction with the crowd only adds to the - well - mayhem of the performance dedicating a song about God being dead to the pope and carving his chest with a hunter's knife like Dead self-mutilating in his live performances. Atilla coming on to do vocals on From the Dark Past is really a nice touch too. Anyone with any interest in Mayhem needs to give this a listen

Porcupine Tree Anesthetize
As incredible as the performance is on the concert, what's preventing it from being perfect is that the atmosphere from the original recordings is lost too much. The bass is much more prominent, especially on the Fear of a Blank Planet t/t and Wilson's vocals are much more emotional and raw, I simply prefer the subtlety and intricacies of the studio counterparts of the majority of the songs here. Fear of a Blank Planet is my fav album by these guys so this album does provide a really nice alternative if I want to hear a more aggressive version of the album. The second half of the set list is really nice too, even if it's not too diverse, it proves how much the band has grown as musicians and gives a really nice snapshot of the band's sound in this era

Modern Power Electronics masterpiece. Anyone who interested in the genre should start here as it really does provide a great insight into what the genre is all about. If you think it's noise and nothing more, you're right (to an extent). It is definitely noise, but is noise in of itself innit?

Yes, this is probably the worst way to ease yourself into the band and picking which album would be the best starting point. Yes, these stretch of songs are very unrepresentative of the band's catalogue holistically. But what this compilation proves is how underrated The Cure is considered as a singles band. Robert Smith could write a damn good pop song whenever he felt like it, in fact the only flaw here is that this should have been expanded to two discs because there's that much more upbeat singles by the band that are high in quality. Even then, with any complaints about the tracklisting in mind, you have to remember that Robert Smith hand picked the songs to be included on this greatest hits package and he did a damn good job at it anyway.

Twenty One Pilots TOPxMM
Now THIS is the Twenty One Pilots I fell in love with when I heard Vessel. Granted, it's Mute Math who steal the show but if anything, it showed me that deep down these piece of shit songs were far from salvageable. Idk hope these guys do more collabs or if not then TOP needs to step up their songwriting game by taking this experience in mind and experiment more in ways that don't have "selling out" written all over it like they did on Blurryface (and also lose the pseudo-reggae stuff; it was tolerable on Guns for Hands because it was brief and the way it enters into the song so abruptly was, frankly, genius but this sound has been done to death on both Blurryface and all the pop so gs on the radio after that album dropped)

Dammit I really wish they performed Hospital for Souls on this. Otherwise, awesome gig with pretty much all of the band's best songs (most of which are from their best album, Sempiternal, anyway)

Moby Play: The B Sides
Moby More Fast Songs About the Apocalypse
It's more or less the same as what the listeners got with These Systems are Failing. Samey, vintage 80s post punk drum machines on top of catchy, distorted synth lines on top of crunchy guitars with those passionate, layered, Ian Curtis-wannabe vocals and loud production. I personally love TSAF and find this to be a fantastic companion to it so take it however you want. The current state of music needs more of these fast (angry) songs about the (political/social) apocalypse.r

Maybe it's because I just love Pretty Hate Machine a lot but this is a cleverly compiled compilation of Pretty Hate Machine demos. Actually, they're so well done, the demo incarnations of those that later appear on PHM that they instead sound like alternate takes or remixes of the songs (ironically, the incarnation of Down in it that appears on PHM is a remix of Down in It as it appears on here). Not to mention the flow of this sounds less like a thrown together comp and more like a low budget studio album. However, what most impresses me here is the epic production job on the songs; don't be fooled, although they're demos, this is stuff that I can only compare to the crazy panning and subtely that is pervaded in The Downward Spiral. rIgnore the low rating for this, anyone who is a fan of NIN or want a refreshing take on the black sheep of the NIN discography, give this a listen as soon as possible. Also thank god the remaster for this is nowhere near as brickwalled as the one for PHM's

Old Gray Slow Burn
My first Old Gray album and it really took me for a loop. It's very strange, angsty, and... vivid. For something so short, it has the impact of an album twice as long. Like the title suggests, the initial listens are off puttings, but it's a slow burn that grows bigger with every listen

Peste Noire Folkfuck Folie
Peste Noire Peste Noire
The band decides to (slightly) tone down the avante-gardness and settle for something more digestible than the previous two releases with a fair bit more emphasis on the band's folk influences. A great release by every means but it drags somewhat towards the back half. Anyway, how Famine hasn't murdered his throat yet will continue to be one of life's greatest mysteries
Peste Noire La Chaise-Dyable
The band decides to return to their roots and go for a raw black metal aesthetic with technical guitar playing. One of the most traditional French folk flavored releases by the band too and it makes for a very refreshing listen

Dear Mr Vernon,rYour latest album is so insubstantial and fluffy that it quite literally floated out of my speakers, before promptly drifting away through the nearest available open window. You can imagine my distress. In future, if you feel inclined to release something quite so wafty, please insert spoken word instructions at Track 1. rSomething along the lines of: r'Thank you for purchasing this record, some artists claim they've bottled I've collected my waftiest fir scented fart. For maximum enjoyment close all doors and windows, extinguish any naked flames and prepare to fully immerse yourself in my buttock breeze'. rThis way your audience understands exactly what it is they've purchased.rI've read all about how you're moving in different circles these days, hobnobbing with fart brewing luminaries like West and Blake. I respect that. I also know you possess the restless spirit of the true artist, that you must follow your muse wherever it leads, however smelly. I accept all this and yet I still can't hide my disappointment, I hope you understand.rIn conclusion I'd say that, as a loyal Bon Iver consumer, I still believe you to be a superior songwriter than brewer of backdoor ablutions, though I do admit you have some talent at the latter.rYours truly,rDoofus Wainwright I rPS. I include a tin of 'sensual lumberjack' beard wax as I know it's your favourite brand and to show no hard feelings.

Rather disappointed that it's nowhere near as good as Acid Rap, but it's still a damn great, passionate effort by Chance, nonetheless. However, what really dilutes the entertainment value of this is that it suffers from My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy Syndrome: a far above competent artist relying too heavily on the features on the album (which end up stealing the show way too often) as opposed to letting their creativity take front stage

Count to Altek A Seraphia Entwined
Count to Altek Sestina
Beautiful nature recordings backed by the avant garde weirdness the active listener of Count to Altek has come to expect. The agression and heaviness is toned down greatly, however, and instead there is a focus of the instrumentals weaving together with the chirping birds to tell the story AAS had in mind while recording this EP. For what it is it's quite nice, but it's fairly meandering and the 3 tracks do blend together too much due to the lacking diversity on the instrumental side and the long lengths of the first and third tracks. Still, well worth a listen for anyone interested in the band.

I've finally concluded that this is the modern St. Anger. The band is sober trying to fight with every fibre of their soul to retain something pure to capitalize on and attempt to make an album based on what little understanding they have on it, being misguided as they are. It's a raw, honest portrait of the band at this point of time (this time with guitar solos!) and it's as bittersweet to look at as the first time hearing St. Anger for the first time

The more I listen to albums from the realms of Jazz and Electronic preceding this, the more I find this album less impressive. Indeed it is commendable how a band who just released one of the greatest rock albums ever (OK Computer) were so bold as to release an album that if not executed properly would have been career suicide. However, the jazz tendencies are perfected on the alternate songs recorded during these sessions (Amnesiac) and the remaining electronic songs leave a bit to desire. That is NOT to say that some of the songs here aren't impressive; Everything in its Right Place, Optimistic, and Idioteque themselves are modern masterpieces. However, the whole idea of technology taking over everyday life is a concept already perfected on OK Computer and the whole adding electronics and distorted vocals into the concept was already perfected on Kraftwerk's The Man-Machine. The rest of the songs besides the three I previously named become rather underwhelming in the album's context once the shock of the album wears off. rHowever, what really brings down the rating of this album, for me, is The National Anthem. If I wanted to hear seemingly aimless brass instruments perform dissonant solos, I would listen to Bitches Brew or Ascension.

Train Train Does Led Zeppelin II
I'm the furthest thing from a Train fan but one thing that made me not mind a Train song being overplayed on the rradio is that powerhouse voice Pat posseses. That being said, it was slightly disillusioning to hear him struggle to rhit some of the more high or prolonged vocal lines; I get that it's an unfair comparison because Plant himself has rone of the greatest voices in rock history but I expected Pat to have done a somewhat better job, which in my ropinion he's perfectl capable of. Aside from that, what makes LZII as magical as it is (or any LZ album for that rmatter) is the insane production job by Mr. Page; Train does an adequate job in attempting to emulate the energy rand make no compromises in attempting to replicate the unconventional production but I guess depending on how much you like the band, this one's going to be a love it or hate it affair. Imo it's neither great or bad, but it's def an interesting listen coming in with an open mind. Caliggy is right, tho, Train need to do more rock oriented music because, frankly, they really put up a fine performance on this album; just that it inherently pales heavily in comparison to the original

Pros : Jeremy's clean vocals. rCons : Well, I hate Jeremy's screams, quite a bit, the drumming offers nothing track by track it's the same damn thing. Very little improvement. The guirar has it's moments. But for the most part offers nothing new, they are certainly not Thrice that's for sure. (Bad Joke) The album is just VERY VERY repetitive. But not all that bad. But goddamn so many breakdowns.rRecomended Tracks : "If It Means Alot To You", "Have Faith In Me", "The Downfall of Us All"

Ironically too long for it's own good, the scatterbrained nature of the album does NOT mix well with it's grating rlack of continuity among the tracks. The album overstays its welcome and will likely leave the listener more bored rand uninterested rather than dazed and confused. At the very least, though, this album pretty much serves as the rblueprint for their masterpiece Altered States of America so I have to give this album that much credit

If Rob Zombie decided to start a career in trap rap, it'd sound just like this. Beats are definitely cool but his vox sound really bad on them, unfortunately. It's a really interesting concept and it's a logical progression from what the world got from Triple 6's Mystic Stylez album; trap rap with satanic themes and even black metal fonts on the album cover to boot. There's potential in here somewhere but I just can't see it coming from this guy because of how completely unpleasant his voice/flow is.

More experimental than the first but, oddly, is much worse because of it. While the first album felt like an actual band playing some songs, a lot of the songs on this album just felt like random samples haphazardly thrown into some Zach Hill jams. The more straightforward punk songs just fall short because of how unmemorable and mediocre they are. The ska songs are interesting considering the preceding album; however, these batch of songs are even more unmemorable than the sample based songs and the punk songs because they sound even more underdeveloped. Hill's performance as a drummer is admirable, but everything else musically fails to compliment it in any way. The weak vocals worked well on the first album because they added to the lo-fi garage rock songwriting; they just feel completely out of place on this album (the gibberish lyrics can sometimes be charming tho). Very disappointed but still anticipating these guys' next one

I'm utterly confused... The first and last songs are essentially a few seconds of diddling followed by like minute long silences. Second song is rather pretty, with its droning cellos and, really, this is what the album should have sounded like. Not with 90% of the album being filled with complete silence, if I wanted that I'd listen to John Cage's 4'33

By the numbers trap that takes a lot of its cues from his contemporaries who also, not to mention, make similar and better sounding music in this realm. Beats are dope but only the features, namely 21 Savage and Kodak, save the songs as they ride the beats with more flavorful and charismatic rhymes than Boogie. Beck Morning Phase

Beck Hyperspace
It?s like Beck watched half of a YouTube tutorial on how to make synthwave on GarageBand, saw Floral Shoppe in his recommendations feed off to the side, and thought ?I got an idea for the new album!? The music sounds shockingly cheap and amateur and nothing sounds like they?re fitting together (which is deeply ironic and sad given Beck?s back catalogue, which I?m largely impartial towards in the first place). Pharrell Williams?s contributions are counterintuitive to the faux 80?s nostalgia and Beck?s anti-folk and rapping are baffling amidst hazy synths and 808s. Muzak for people who think they?re nostalgic for the 80?s but really are just detached from reality.

Captain, We're Sinking The King of No Man
The Future is Cancelled contained brilliant, personal lyrics which were backed up gorgeously by Bob's passionate, moving vocals. On top of that was a production job boasting of a trebley which added a searing level of abrasiveness to the hardhitting and often even dissonant riffs and allowed the bass and drums enough room to work their magic around the surrounding chaos. What The King of No Man offers is a passionless album made even more impotent with its bass-heavy and compressed production which sounds like it was recorded with mics hooked up to someone's laptop to be mixed on GarageBand. Bob here posseses none of the admirable traits that made him such a charismatic prescence on TFiC; dude just sounds like he's on autopilot and waiting for the next check to arrive. The songwriting is as void and painfully uninspiring as the desert featured on the album's artwork. Do not fall for the hype. This is a shitty punk album.

Chris Brown Heartbreak on a Full Moon
A full 2 1/2 hours of Chris Brown following trends with the whole R&B/Trap deal that Young Thug and Travis Scott are best known for. Dude with autotune is painful to listen to as well. No point in listening to this at all when you can just listen to Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight or Barter 6 or anything fucking else that isn't this mess.

Eminem Revival
Imagine that notorious stretch of terrible songs on Encore but stretched out to 19 tracks long... This is what this ralbum is.rEdit: Holy shit the last three songs are actually top tier Eminem tracks wtf happened
Eminem Music to Be Murdered By
I keep it no secret that I?m an Eminem apologist, but this album gave me nothing to work with. At least I still return to the last 3 songs on Revival. There?s nothing on here to return to. It?s Kamikaze without the brevity and Revival with even more bitterness.

It's not the blatant pro-Nazism that's ended up oppressing the enjoyment value so much (neither is
the production which I think suits the music exceptionally well), it's just that the songs

Kid Cudi decided to release an unofficial sequel to Lil Wayne's "Rebirth"... unfortunately it

King 810 Memoirs of a Murderer
Kodak Black Lil B.I.G. Pac
Probably the worst and most disrespectful album cover I have ever had the displeasure to look at. I don't care how decent an MC he may be. The fact that he has the audacity to come out and claim to be better than Biggie and Pac is beyond what the word "disgusting" can ever convey. Pac is dying to come out of hiding and record/release Hit Em Up part 2. And you thought I was kidding about that stupid claim he made? Btw, this guy sucks. He emulates what the two did (e.g. create a song about phone sex like Pac did although Pac actually DID have phone sex in the song, rap about actually being in jail which is technically something every rapper has done, etc the list goes on) but he brings fucking ZERO originality or insight to what he's doing (hell he doesn't even have the rhyme skills of either of the two). He's riding off of shock and hype and the come down will leave him with a scathing hangover in the near future when he's rapping about the same shit he's rapping about on this mixtape and everyone figures he's a fraud

OK, let's stop for a second. Before you come at me, I'ma let you know. I'ma blame my A&R. Because he listened to that song many times and he allowed me to say that.. I guess for a second, I thought a cello was a woodwind instrument and it is not. And nobody ever said shit. Nobody ever pulled up a pic and
said, "Hey man. I don't know if you know what this is, but it ain't that." I fucked up. I thought Squidward played the cello. He don't. That's a flute. I fucked up. But it do sound good.

These guys used to be so good when they had a unique sound with organic instrumentation to compliment that powerhouse voice Ryan Tedder possesses. Then they started making all out pop music which didn't compliment his voice as well and sounded less inspired than their first two efforts. This album here only furthers their downward spiral. Such a shame, Waking Up really showed how much potential these guys had with making an album that would give Viva La Vida a run for its money

Discount Travis Scott. Production is fuckin dope but the autotuned vocal delivery gives me the impression that this guy was listening to Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight quite a lot while recording this, even down to the dark, atmospheric beats; unfortunately, the beats cannot save PnB's mind numbing lack of charisma and completely unoriginal vocal melodies.

This album transcends the phrase "sophomore slump." The first time I heard this album I was literally bored to tears and I was in a rather big VW fan at this time having really liked their debut quite a bit. Even when I occasionally give this a second chance once in a blue moon this is truly one of the most boring indie albums I have honest to God ever heard
