Gyromania 03.12.16	the thing is, brostep, no explanation, no matter how non-antagonistic and well-worded would make the slightest bit of difference. in fact, the more i divulged the reasons i disliked a song, the more people would attack my perspective. if music is subjective then i shouldn't need to explain why i don't like these songs - i just don't. i'm not trying to make a solid critique for why i don't like each song because that would be as tedious as me listening to them. as to why make the list, you kind of answered your own question. we write negative reviews. sure they're fleshed out critiques but i don't think validating your reasons for disliking something should be a prerequisite to overtly saying you dislike it. anyway, i seemed to get a decent amount of people agreeing with me, which is what i was looking for. i didn't try to start a war over this, and if people are prone to snapping and being whiny cunts about someone's opinion on a music site, maybe we should be blaming them instead of attacking the list

Brostep 03.12.16	that's the thing: I feel like if you're writing a negative review, you have to justify it in some way or another. like, talk about why other people feel differently, or talk about why you think it's bad in the context of other (good) music, why it's an ill portent for music to come, etc. basically, it's one thing to shit on an album and justify why that shitting is necessary, but it's another thing to be like "this is ass" and have that be the only valuable conclusion you draw from it. for example a couple years ago I reviewed a Knife Party EP (http://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/56646/Knife-Party-Haunted-House/) and gave it a 1, and looking back at that review I kinda cringe. like, there's nothing [i]good[/i] about that review, it doesn't justify why we should care that it's bad, it's just saying the album is bad unconstructively. there are negative reviews I'm more proud of (like this Skrillex one http://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/61401/Skrillex-Recess/) but that's because I justified why I cared and why the listener should care as well. then again I haven't written an overtly negative review since that one and that was exactly three years ago to the day. happy anniversary to me!
