| Favorite 10 Stone Temple Pilots Tracks
RIP Scott Weiland, I guess his heroin addiction got the best of him. Felt like ranking my favorite 10 songs by him so here yah go. List only contains their 90s stuff because they were kind of terrible after that. | | 10 | | Stone Temple Pilots No. 4
"Atlanta"
If STP had a knack for anything, it was closers. Even though No. 4 is generally considered to be a flop, I always saw "Atlanta" as one of their strongest ballad type tracks. A lot of emotion on this one. | | 9 | | Stone Temple Pilots Purple
"Pretty Penny"
I always absolutely loved this one. The chorus is so haunting and it channels The Beatles pretty well (which I feel like STP occasionally did, especially on Tiny Music haha.) | | 8 | | Stone Temple Pilots Tiny Music... Songs from the Vatican...
"Seven Caged Tigers"
Tiny Music really deserved an upbeat closer and that's exactly what it got. STP were never anything close to innovative, but I feel like they always knew how to organize an album well which is important. Plus it has a pretty sweet outro. | | 7 | | Stone Temple Pilots Purple
"Unglued"
Their hard rockers are so memorable and Unglued in specific is so catchy. The chorus is probably one of their catchiest moments. | | 6 | | Stone Temple Pilots Core
"Sex Type Thing"
Core as a whole never really impressed me, but its highlights were up there with many of the grunge greats. Like many grunge bands, they're pretty good at being eerie. The guitar line is basically iconic at this point and those lyrics do a great job at show how fucked a rapist's logic really can be. | | 5 | | Stone Temple Pilots No. 4
"Sour Girl"
Whether you love or hate No. 4 as a whole, I don't think I'd be able to take an STP fan seriously if they said they didn't like this song. It's literally a perfect reflection of Weiland's divorce from his wife. With both a memorable guitar line and emotional vocals, it's blatantly a pinnacle of their work. | | 4 | | Stone Temple Pilots Core
"Piece of Pie"
This song has such a good atmosphere and is yet again catchy (like the majority of STP's highlights) and has a sweet bass line. I feel like it could be considered similar to Wicked Garden, but far bassier, which is why I prefer it. | | 3 | | Stone Temple Pilots Tiny Music... Songs from the Vatican...
"Trippin' on a Hole in a Paper Heart"
This song is the type to bring back memories of my huge grunge phase back when I was 14-15. I used to overplay the hell out of this song. The guitar solo is probably heir best one honestly. | | 2 | | Stone Temple Pilots Purple
"Meatplow"
Thought this would be my #1 on my list since I've been calling it my favorite STP song for some time... with my favorite STP riff and favorite lyrics it's such a strong opener and I truly emphasizes everything that drew me to them back when I was 14. | | 1 | | Stone Temple Pilots Core
"Creep" !!!
Just kidding, it's actually "Where the River Goes"
This song is just a huge force of power almost in the vien of Soundgarden, (then again Core was basically a huge channeling of Nirvana/Pearl Jam/Alice in Chains/Soundgarden anyway... which is probably my biggest gripe with it) but this song has to be STP's best closer. The way the verses come in is basically perfection and the fakeout ending 3 minutes into the song is pulled off rather well too. | |

Had an STP t-shirt, Creep on single, the first 3 albums and really used to dig 'em but they never quite matched other stuff going on at the time.

12.05.15 | Well yeah STP was not and never will be one of the best grunge bands, but I still appreciate them. | DoofusWainwright
12.05.15 | Yeah Zak, they never had much cred but 'purple' was a big album for me, if I'm being honest ive listened to it more than 'Ten', 'Dirt' and 'superunknown' combined, it's less of a niche listen | danielcardoso
12.06.15 | I'm giving "Purple" a new listen for the first time in a long time, and it's fantastic. Can't believe I've let it slide for so long, such a rich and diverse album. | zakalwe

01.09.16 | Why you no like Down. Only cute people like Down in their top ten STP songs. However, I love Sour Girl. |
