Upper Endings

aka Happy Closers Revamped, this time with extra songs and added descriptions!
1B L A C K I E... All Caps, With Spaces
Spred Luv

"My Window" - This track feels a lot less cluttered when compared to the other tracks from this album, plus the way this guy raps "Like I barely made it, like I'm God's favorite" adds a thick layer of optimism to the track.
2Local H
Whatever Happened to P.J. Soles?

"Halcyon Days (Where Were You Then?)" - This whole album tells the story of a washed-up, bitter celebrity and how his life is like after his 15 seconds of fame. The whole album is, in general, very frustrated, but this track has a much lighter mood compared to the rest. This song is about moving on and looking forward to the good aspects of life, making for a very satisfying closer.
3Daniel Johnston
Hi, How Are You

"No More Pushing Joe Around" - Boy, can Daniel Johnston write some sad shit. This song, on the other hand, is actually very heart warming to hear. It's incredibly play full and light hearted, and it brings you back to being a little kid, playing around with no care in the world.
4The Velvet Underground
The Velvet Underground

"After Hours" - Lou Reed once described this track as one of the most pure songs he has ever written, and I concur. The amount of innocence is overwhelming, the vocals are upbeat, in general it's just an adorable track.
5Liam Lynch
We're All Nighters

"We're All Nighters" - Just like it's title might suggest, this is a very sleepy track. It's the aural equivalent to staying up all night and finally getting the chance to take a nap. Very comforting too, all that could be found in Liam's voice is pure optimisim
6Archers Of Loaf
Vee Vee

"Underachievers March and Fight Song" - A somewhat silly one, beginning with a strange horn loop, this track grows into a "slacker's anthem" of sorts. The cheery chorus, complete with boy scout whistling, gives the song a sunshine-y personality that only makes the situation better
7Andrew Jackson Jihad
People Who Can Eat People are the Luckiest People

"People" - Andrew Jackson Jihad is, generally speaking, a sad band. However, when you end an album with a song about never losing faith in humanity (no matter how fucked up it can be at times) then you know you ended that album right.
8Johnny Hobo and the Freight Trains
Love Songs For The Apocalypse

"DIY Orgasms" - Loneliness and despair is very much present throughout Johnny Hobo's lyrics, but this song appears to be a very upbeat attempt at looking in the positives in it. The trumpet is incredibly tasteful and catchy, and the shout-respond chorus is one that will get stuck in your head for days
9Radiohead
OK Computer

"The Tourist" - A bright, slow-paced track that only becomes more beautiful as time goes on
10Swans
My Father Will Guide Me Up a Rope to the Sky

"Little Mouth" - To me, this song feels like the end of the movie where the main characters all go home with the knowledge and new found love of life that they've attained throughout the film. There's just this overall calm and comforting feeling to be found on this song.
11Harvey Danger
Little By Little...

"Diminishing Returns" - A song about moving on and growing up, simple, yet effective
12At the Drive-In
In/Casino/Out

"Transatlantic Foe" - Whenever I listen to this record, I hear this recurring theme of exploration in it. Many tracks on hear sound like something out of a soundtrack to a movie about a group of explorers sailing the seven seas. This song in particular is like hearing those explorers returning home to their friends and families, barley escaping the horrors that were out in the seas, happy to be alive and to be with their loved ones.
