Hounds of Love Ranked
So I love this album and felt like ranking it. |
| 12 | | Kate Bush Hounds of Love
"And Dream of Sheep"
Because this album is basically perfect, the worst song on here is still absolutely gorgeous. If it has any flaws, it's that it fails to standout amongst the other tracks. 4.2/5.0 |
| 11 | | Kate Bush Hounds of Love
"Under Ice"
Both "And Dream of Sheep" and "Under Ice" seem like they're buildups to the epic "Waking the Witch" rather than independent tracks on their own. Well then again the second half of the album is considered a suite so that makes sense, but it does cause neither of them to be standouts. The violins are so intense though. 4.2/5 |
| 10 | | Kate Bush Hounds of Love
"Jig of Life"
Although it's a great track, I rarely find myself listening to it outside of the context of the entire album. That's not really saying much though since I love it whenever I hear it. 4.3/5.0 |
| 9 | | Kate Bush Hounds of Love
"Hello Earth"
It's weird ranking this low since it's better than almost everything on the entirety of Lionheart, which is a good album as well, but there's 8 better tracks that top this epic. Ranking 5s is kind of painful. 4.5/5.0 |
| 8 | | Kate Bush Hounds of Love
"Hounds of Love"
No seriously this album is really hard to rank and this song probably one of the most epic pop ballads like ever. Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh oooooooh. 4.6/5.0 |
| 7 | | Kate Bush Hounds of Love
"Running Up That Hill (A Deal with God)"
This song would probably be top 3 if it weren't for a fatal flaw: it's production is kind of worse than every other song on here, but it doesn't matter because everything else about it is basically perfect and it's not like the production is bad per se. So yeah, I'm nitpicking here. 4.9/5.0 |
| 6 | | Kate Bush Hounds of Love
"The Big Sky"
I guess this 6th... since there's actually 5 songs on the album I like more than this. Crazy vocals and a beautiful build up make this an amazing listen. 5.0/5.0 |
| 5 | | Kate Bush Hounds of Love
"Watching You Without Me"
You know when I was first listening to the album, I thought this was going to be the big stinker, the lowlight, the track that killed the vibe, but then it got really weird, yet really pretty. Ever since then it's been a contender for one of the best on here since I can appreciate a that manages buildup to pay off incredibly well without even picking up. 5.0/5.0 |
| 4 | | Kate Bush Hounds of Love
"Waking the Witch"
I could have sworn this would have been 1. I mean it's perfect, strange as hell, and is completely characteristic of my music taste and of course I love it, but I can't deny that there a few better songs on here... somehow. 5.0/5.0 |
| 3 | | Kate Bush Hounds of Love
"Mother Stands for Comfort"
"Mother hides the murderer" Such a hauntingly beautiful song that paints such a vivid picture in my mind. It's a shame that this didn't have a music video... |
| 2 | | Kate Bush Hounds of Love
"Cloudbusting"
Oh look it's the fan favorite. At first convinced myself that it couldn't be the best on here because it has the type of reputation where pushy people well yell at you for not putting it at 1, but in all truth: this one is almost tied for 1st. Incredibly interesting and historic lyrics coupled with some of the prettiest string arrangements on the entire album. Thank you Kate Bush for writing this song. 5.0/5.0 |
| 1 | | Kate Bush Hounds of Love
"The Morning Fog"
BUT this my favorite. That guitar tone is quite possibly the prettiest thing I've ever heard in her music and those backup vocals are so perfectly soothing, and it wraps up such a perfect album that it was truly the track that secured this as one of my favorite 5s. Hell it's probably my favorite Kate Bush song now... 5.0/5.0 |
