sapient 02.21.15	Seymour Duncan Jb for the bridge and a 59 for th neck, been using it in my PRS and it can do metal really well but is versatile enough to go clean as well. What's the guitar btw?
ZombicidalMan 02.21.15	Duncan Distortion if you want something that has a lot of bite, Dimarzio Super Distortion if you want something with a little bite (think Iron Maiden), and a JB if you want something versatile. I hate active pickups, though they have their place. Bare Knuckle are great pickups but are pricey and much harder to find - better to go with DiMarzio or SD since it'll set you back $100 or so and you can just go to your local shop. I found the JB to be too treble-y, so I switched to a Super Distortion in my "metal" guitar, I find it's more balanced. Finally, you can always go the classic route and get a PAF, like the SD Seth Lover, which is low gain, but gives you better cleans and can get really nasty if you have a high gain amp.

Gameofmetal 02.21.15	EMG's have been a go to for heavy music for a long time but of late I have noticed some musicians swapping out for like the bare knuckles or whatever. I have EMGs in one of mine and they're fine.
SCREAM! 02.21.15	My bro got a nice PRS that came with EMGs and they sound pretty great but I still don't find them worth the hassle of having to deal with the batteries when you can easily find passive pick ups that do the job as well or better
bloc 02.21.15	Bare Knuckles are waaaay too expensive and overrated as fuck. If you want versatility, you can easily find what you want with Dimarzios or Duncans and it won't break the bank

ZombicidalMan 02.21.15	yeah, I agree with bloc. bare knuckle are twice as much as most pickups, and definitely don't give you twice the "tone". even lace offers some sweet high gain pickups which I feel obliterate the bare knuckle equivalents jazzmasters are amazing, I adore my japanese one after I changed the pots to 250k and threw in seymour duncans. every guitarist needs a jazzmaster, jaguar, or jagstang
ScuroFantasma 02.21.15	Thanks everyone who responded, you've given me a lot of options to consider. I think I'll skip the Bare Knuckles for now, they're a tad expensive for me at the moment. The Duncan's and Dimarzios seem well recommended so I'll start their and see what looks good to me.
ScuroFantasma 02.21.15	@Sapient I like the idea of the '59 in the neck position, might be what I'm looking for actually (all depends on what my local music shops have). But if Zombicidal is correct and the JBs are trebly then I think I'll avoid those, I prefer a stronger bass sound.
ZombicidalMan 02.21.15	I support the '59 for sure, they're great pickups. But I know that I had a JB in the bridge, and I just found it to be very brittle, even if I messed around with the tone controls and amp's EQ. It lacked oomph. I think the Duncan Distortion is a good alternative, but it has very muddy cleans (it has great clarity however). Of course it's all opinion, I thought I'd dig the JB but it just didn't work out for me. Maybe it's exactly what you want - doesn't hurt to try the heralded combo of JB and 59!
bloc 02.21.15	Also look into a Dimarzio Tone Zone in the bridge and Air Norton in the neck. It's a popular combo with a great bass response.
ScuroFantasma 02.22.15	Cheers bloc, I'll give that combo a look, I'm looking for something with good bass response so that could work. @Zombicidal - fair enough I suppose it's a personal thing but if it sounded too trebly for you then chances are I won't dig it either. I'll give the Duncan Distortions a look too and probably those Dimarzios.

bloc 02.22.15	Tbh, I've always preferred Dimarzios over Duncans As a bonus with Dimarzio, you can choose different colours. Like seriously, there's yellow, pink, blue, green, etc. Sounds corny I know, but you stick those in the right guitar and you have something beautiful
