Comforting Songs

Just a list of songs I find comforting
1Jeromes Dream
Presents

"35" - This one takes a little bit to "kick in". It's essentially a repetative, 5-6 minute instrumental,
but there's just something about the way the guitars wail that make you feel good, happy,
uplifted.
2Foetus
Love

"Don't Want Me Anymore" - Probably the closest thing Foetus has ever gotten to Ambient music,
the way the synths simply drift around your head just makes you want to sleep
3Pg. 99
Document #6

"Going South" - This track is a short piano instrumental in very low quality, it sounds like it was
recorded back in the 1940s. However, the low quality gives the track a type of "warmth" to it, and
the occasional wind chimes that are sprinkled on the track only adds to the overall tone.
4Swans
The Burning World

"God Damn the Sun" - Even though the lyrics deal with subjects such as depression and the loss of
passion, the way Michael Gira croons make you feel safe
5Radiohead
In Rainbows

"Jigsaw Falling Into Place" - The guitar one here is subtle and warming, and Thom Yorke's moaning
cradles you like a soft blanket
6Unwound
New Plastic Ideas

"Abstrakions" - This song makes you feel as if you are dreaming, the guitar frosts the bass in such
a way you can't help but feel you eyelids become heavy
7Harvey Danger
Little By Little...

"Diminishing Returns" - A song about growing up and moving on. The subtle guitar picking creates
a light to help you see, and the optimistic vocals guides you and creates a path for you to follow
8Aphex Twin
Selected Ambient Works 85-92

"Tha" - The drum pattern is nothing short of hypnotizing. It's like having a ping pong ball bounce
against the walls inside your head. The fuzzy, watery "vocals" feel like they're rotating around you
as you listen.
9At the Drive-in
In/Casino/Out

"Lopsided" - The guitars feel as if they're reminiscent to a nursery rhyme, and the vocals are like
the musical equivalent to stopping and thinking about life
10Liam Lynch
We're All Nighters

"We're All Nighters" - Like the title would suggest, this track perfectly fits to the feeling of being
tired. It makes you want to lie on your back and close your eyes, it takes away all of your worries.
11The Velvet Underground
The Velvet Underground

"After Hours" - A song about jealousy, but done so in the most innocent fashion imaginable. The
vocals just sound so light-hearted and practically empty in any negativity whatsoever. Makes you
feel like a young child.
12Cherubs
Icing

"Kick Me" - Alright, this is a weird one. It's an instrumental jam, only played backwards. The result
is, in an odd way, comforting. The track simply distracts you; you forget about everything else
that's going on and you just pay attention to the track. You listen to the guitars, and how the
whine. It makes you feel happy, good.
