Songs In The Key Of Life Ranked

Including A Something's Extra EP. This is a subjective opinion ranking and a song'srstatus as a hit ris not considered.
21Stevie Wonder
Songs in the Key of Life

"Ngiculela - Es Una Historia - I Am Singing" Although it's cool that it's in 3 different
langauges, the fact that the 3 parts hold no common theme is very off putting. Plus the
music isn't necessarily a standout. 3/5
20Stevie Wonder
Songs in the Key of Life

"If It's Magic" It's an okay ballad, but this album has amazing ballads so it doesn't
measure up much. 3.2/5
19Stevie Wonder
Songs in the Key of Life

"Saturn" A corny as hell concept, that's a little too dated. The effects are cool though.
3.2/5
18Stevie Wonder
Songs in the Key of Life

"Easy Goin' Evening (My Mama's Call)" A rather chill instrumental. Yet again, far from a
standout, though it has a cool harmonica part. 3.5/5
17Stevie Wonder
Songs in the Key of Life

"Black Man" An amazing concept and attempt at expressing the racial diversity falls
short when he starts naming some of the same people twice and completely forgets to
name any one of Middle Eastern or Indian (from India) decent. It's funky as hell in a
good way though. 3.5/5
16Stevie Wonder
Songs in the Key of Life

"Joy Inside My Tears" This would be considered a really strong ballad if Stevie didn't top
it a ton of times throughout the album. 4/5
15Stevie Wonder
Songs in the Key of Life

"Ebony Eyes" A cute little filler type track that actually stayed with me to some extent.
4/5
14Stevie Wonder
Songs in the Key of Life

"Have a Talk with God" Stevie has the power to impress even the non-religious with his
God themed songs and this is no exception. That harmonica is sweet too. 4.2/5
13Stevie Wonder
Songs in the Key of Life

"Pastime Paradise" Strong lyrics strong synths that sound like strings. Despite being
somewhat low on this list, it's still hell of a song. 4.5/5
12Stevie Wonder
Songs in the Key of Life

"Knocks Me Off My Feet" Among one of Stevie's more heartfelt ballads. The pickup is
perfect. 4.6/5
11Stevie Wonder
Songs in the Key of Life

"Contusion" An instrumental that sizes up to his lyrical songs incredibly well. t's the
epitome of funk. 4.6/5
10Stevie Wonder
Songs in the Key of Life

"Sir Duke" What is this song doing so low you ask? Well it made the top 10 y'know. It's a
thrilling homage to old Jazz musicians with great musical parts, but seeing that this
album is filled with brilliant moments, this somehow gets knocked down to #10. Still
better than most of Music of My Mind. 4.7/5
9Stevie Wonder
Songs in the Key of Life

"All Day Sucker" The only truly great moment on A Something's Extra. It's funky and
weird as hell with a cool guitar solo. 4.7/5
8Stevie Wonder
Songs in the Key of Life

"Love's in Need of Love Today" It's songs like these that prove that ballads are more
than just bland little love songs. The chorus and growing intensity add such a touching
mood that it's almost perfect. 4.8/5
7Stevie Wonder
Songs in the Key of Life

"As" Speaking of ballads, there's this giant. Basically the same description as 8, but even
stronger. 4.9/5
6Stevie Wonder
Songs in the Key of Life

"Isn't She Lovely" Stevie is such a source of creativity. By having his newborn daughter
provide vocals it really makes the song adorably touching. Of course the harmonica solo
is ever sweeter. The closest thing to a flaw on this song is that it's not long enough!
4.9/5
5Stevie Wonder
Songs in the Key of Life

"Village Ghetto Land" Of course, Stevie is also a master of being depressing. Synths
cheerfully play as Stevie hits you with the truth about the poor. 5/5
4Stevie Wonder
Songs in the Key of Life

"Summer Soft" A perfect build up and chorus. That piano/keys solo at the end is one of
the finest moments of his entire career. 5/5
3Stevie Wonder
Songs in the Key of Life

"Another Star" Another giant that closes off the album's main part with a fist full of brass passion.
His vocals at at his strongest here as well. 5/5
2Stevie Wonder
Songs in the Key of Life

"Ordinary Pain" This song is already amazing due to to the first half's ballad section, but
what really makes it a moment of brilliance is that it's coupled with a funky section that
blends so well. The woman singing on it complements Stevie so well too. 5/5

Songs in the Key of Life

"I Wish" No one should be surprised that this is #1. It's basically everything that's
awesome about Songs in the Key of Life wrapped into 1 song. Depressing truths,
funkiness, a horn section, and powerful vocals all blended together perfectly. 5/5
