Fragile Ranked

Fragile is my favorite Yes album. You've read correctly, I prefer this to rClose to the Edge, get rrrover it. Here's my ranking!
10

First I'd like to tell you why all of the fillers are not automatically outranked by the longer
tracks: I feel like because there's filler in between the epics, it makes the album flow
better. Plus every single filler, except maybe one of them is charming as hell.
9Yes
Fragile

"Mood for a Day" This song does absolutely nothing for the album theme wise. Yeah
yeah it's showoffy acoustic guitar, but where's Yes's classic bass? Where are those
cool drums? It's not bad, just underwhelming, the only track on here that is. 3/5

"Cans and Brahms (Extracts from Brahms' 4th Symphony in E Minor, Third
Movement)" A charming as hell little keyboard filler. It's very likable, but of course
most of the album is better. 4/5

Fragile

"The Fish (Schindleria Praematurus)" The watery-themed guitar is cool and the bass
is classic Yes. It's one of the simple ones, so it's not as much of a stand out. It also
kind of ends abruptly which disturbs Fragile's flow a little. Still pretty great. 4/5

"Roundabout" Another great song with yet again Yes's classic bass. The acoustic guitar
gives the song a very distinct identity. I can't help but say the first 5 minutes are a
little better than the rest of the song, but overall it's always a pleasure to listen to.

"We Have Heaven" Another wonderful filler that almost always has me singing along
like some goof. The way the door slams shut at the end and then reopens for the
reprise makes it even cooler. 4.5/5

Fragile

"Five Per Cent for Nothing" As I said before, I don't believe the filler should
automatically be last on the list. These 36 seconds are monumental in size making it
seem almost like a full song. Probably one of the best shorter than 1 minute songs ever.

"Long Distance Runaround" I swear that light playful guitar line is one of the most
inviting things ever. The bass and the piano are some of the highlights. The only
downside is the somewhat generic lyrics. 5/5

"Heart of the Sunrise" This is most people's #1 and I understand why. The guitar and
bass work together to create an epic riff. The keyboards are all over the place in the
best way possible. And there not a dull moment contained with in these 11 minutes.
"South Side of the Sky" only beats it by a hair. They're nearly tied. 5/5

"South Side of the Sky" other than Starship Trooper, this has to be my favorite Yes
song ever. The bass is of course amazing here, and the drums are so bouncy. And the
middle part with the "lalalala" chorus and the piano is just epic and wraps the song
together so perfectly. 5/5
