My Favorite 10 Talking Heads Songs

What I expect from you guys: List needs "insert overrated hit song" ;)
10Talking Heads
Fear of Music

"Animals" I always find that their best songs are the random ones. Being paranoid
about animals laughing at you while being useless? Amazing.
9Talking Heads
True Stories

"Papa Legba" By far the best song on True Stories (an album ridden with filler), this
stands out as a funky afro-beat of awesomeness.
8Talking Heads
Remain in Light

"Houses in Motion" The vocals in the chorus are perfect, the guitar is funky. Just
everything about this song is danceable.
7Talking Heads
More Songs About Buildings and Food

"The Good Thing" If this were a top 20 list WAY MORE songs from this album would
have made the list, but as for the top 10, this song is the best with its kiddy back-up
vocals and crazy pickup at the end.
6Talking Heads
Little Creatures

"Television Man" This song goes in about 5 different directions, which all pan out
flawlessly while also being an interesting commentary on television. "Television made me
what I am" That neurotic genius.
5Talking Heads
Speaking in Tongues

"Pull up the Roots" Sang perfectly, this song trumps "Burning Down the House" at
every turn. The music is some of their catchiest. The outro blows me away.
4Talking Heads
Fear of Music

"I Zimbra" Anyone who can make gibberish into one of the best songs ever deserves
an award. Those weird guitar notes are so sweet.
3Talking Heads
Remain in Light

"Crosseyed and Painless" The music is even paranoid in this song. It's the
centerpiece of neurosis. The rap part towards the end is one of the best things ever.
STILL WAITING.
2Talking Heads
Fear of Music

"Cities" Talking Heads have so many songs either dissing the country side of praising
cities, and this one is by far the most catchy, most playful, and silliest of them all. The guitar
is infectious.

Talking Heads: 77

"No Compassion" Lead singer David Byrne was diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome
and this song kind of makes it obvious, but it still gives an interesting point of view.
"Be a little more selfish, it might do you some good." "My interesting level is
dropping, My interesting level is dropping" "What are you in love with your
problems?" The guitar on it is probably their best ever, and that pause in the song has so
much suspense. It should have been the album's closer, but oh well.
