Neo-garage rock/art-punk trio from New York, formed in 2000 by vocalist Karen O and guitarist Nicolas Zinner (drummer Brian Chase was
recruited shortly after). After their formation, the group quickly threw together a mountain of songs and was very quick to be noticed on the
New York scene. Within less than a year of existence, the group was already opening for such high-profile acts as the White Stripes and the
Strokes, part of the same garage rock revivalism movement as the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. The group released an EP in 2001 and toured heavily,
adding to the growing buzz surrounding the potential stars. The Yeah Yeah Yeahs' full-length debut Fever To Tell was released in 2003 to
the delight of fans of the New York garage scene.
