Syrup16g are an alternative rock/emo band from Japan that formed in 1996. They are best known for their melancholic sound and lyrics, provided by frontman Takashi Igarashi. Due to their popularity, Syrup16g are often considered to be the most commercially successful emo band in Japanese music history, and are arguably thought of to be the band that put emo onto the mainstream scene. They originally split in 2008 for unknown reasons, but reformed in 2014.
