Can

An experimental German band formed in 1968, Can epitomised the genre "Krautrock" and are now regarded as a preeminent proto-punk band and a huge influence on the alternative music scene. The band broke up in 1979 only to briefly reform in 1986. Most members launched reasonably notable solo careers.
