Autopsy is an influential death metal band, founded in 1987 in the United States by Chris Reifert after leaving Death.Beginningtheir careerwiththe"Severed Survival" LP, Autopsy took on a sound similar to that of Scream Bloody Gore era Death,but soonmoved on to a doommetalinfluenced soundfor the "Retribution for the Dead" EP. After several years, the band members briefly reunited in September 2008 to record two new tracks for the special editionoftheir 1989debutSeveredSurvival.
