American Football is an indie rock band from Urbana, Illinois, which was initially active from 1997 to 2000. The band was formed byguitarist/bassist andsingerMike Kinsella (formerly of Cap'n Jazz and Joanof Arc and currently of Owen) and drummer SteveLamos (formerly of The One UpDownstairs,one time member of The Firebird Band, andcurrently of The Geese and DMS), andalsoincluded guitar player Steve Holmes(also of The Geese.)In 2014, their debut album was released with a deluxe edition and the band announced they had reunited. Their sophmore LP, American Football (LP2), was released in 2016.They released American Football (LP3) in March 2019.
