Cool album art makes me more inclined to check something lol

When it comes to metal it seems like the majority of the time all the effort went into the album art lol. It's uncanny how many times I check out a metal album with dope album art and it ends up sounding homogeneous and dull af

right? who could've guessed I'd love an album that's being compared to Dzö a lot

As expected, very monochromatic and drawn out. Idk why every song needs to be 7+ minutes with so little variety between tracks. Within individual tracks there are some lovely moments though

because 7+ minutes is how long songs should be

I want to like this on principle but the drums sound so, so weak in the mix...

Spotify with decent-ish headphones. I don't think it's a sound quality issue so much as a mixing issue. The drums are just super buried and lack any sort of punch.

eh, it's just like an hour of overwhelming synths, whispered vocals, and serviceable drumming more or less, but... how about that album cover?

Really boring albums like this are repped on the daily on Sputnik. The amount of metal albums I've heard over the years that have just been flat out dull as hell is staggering. Always seems like stuff like this gets a 4 or higher

"overwhelming synths, whispered vocals, and serviceable drumming"
I mean that's basically all atmosback these days so maybe it just ain't your genre
