| I thought it's gonna be another of those classic death metal worshiping albums but it turned out to be much more interesting. It definetely takes a lot from aforementioned genere but it changes and twists it in a very unique way. With a bit of prog death and even some black metal it creates a very unique album that just keeps you on the edge of the seat for entire runtime. Vocals on here are amazing mixing a classic approach (so kinda very screamy growl?) with occasional screams that instantly bring Burzum to my mind. We got occasional cleans but rthey don't break the flow of the record and actually really enchance the few song they are on. Musicanship is on an high level with simply incredible bass work, that resembles bands like Atheist, that adds so much that I can't imagine this record with different bassist. One of my favourites of this year so far. |

| One of most kick ass thrash albums of last 20 or so years. Not too fast (or too slow), not overproduced, everything falls just in right place. Mark Osegueda's vocals are absolutely stunning full of energy and sound like if they were performed by a 20 year old. Songs are very varied, from simple thrashers to more complex ones with ocassional slower parts, riffing is just amazing and doesn't feel like the riffs repeat themselves. Finally, the drums are a cherry on the top, each hit feels like a pound to the head but at the same time not robotic or automatic. Fantastic record. |

Riffing is very tight although nothing groundbreaking and sometimes it seems like they are out of ideas. I feel like the album suffers form excessive lenght and utilizing the same ideas over and over. |

Quorthron diversified already incredible compositions with occasional solos and shifting between clean and more harsh vocals yet they still have that hypnotic feel to them. |

| This demo just blew my mind when I heard it, considering that previous Behemoth efforts weren't so great. It's dark it's cold it's full blown black metal and even more impressive is the fact that it was released back in 1993 by two 16 year olds who had to have a very limited contact with Norwegian scene and still were able to make such an acomplished release as this one. One of the most distinguishing aspects about this record are the melodic soloes and cheap synths that immidiately made me think of bands such as Burzum or Immortal. |

This album is just a banger after banger, it's aggressive, melodic and full of energy that transfers to the listener. Instrumentation is great, some song structures are similar to ones of early Maiden, others are built around bass guitar grooves which gives them a lot of a punch and showcases vigorous vocals. Combined with a dose of creepy, gory lyrics it creates an outstanding metal masterpiece that is still cherished by another generation of metal fans. |

| A great, incredibly ambitious effort by one of the most promising modern metal bands. On Terminal Redux Vektor was able to create an almost perfect album. Vektor's distinct otherworldy sounding mix of thrash and black metal is a perfect match for a Sci-Fi themed concept album. Their progressive melodic style, carried by aggressive high pitched guitars and vocals that sound like pulled out of the dark depths of space, fills this over 70 minutes-long metal opera with a feeling of mystery, dread and unrelenting force. |

| One of the best Priest records, I'll propably never decide whether I prefer this or 'Sad Wings of Destiny'. This one has much darker and melancholic tone and a bit of that prog rock edge combined with hints of what Priest would become in 80's. It's definitely their most diverse 70's record and I love the metallic-sounding guitar tone. Heavy melodic riffing contrasting with short bits of clean guitars which make tracks even darker -sounding and causing them to have bigger impact. All this combined with impressive Halford vocals create one of the finest heavy metal records ever recorded. |

Overall altough this record has some good moments it's easily the weakest of first 6 classic Sabbath albums. |

Altough it's still a bit different kind of music, somewhat transistionary, not fully formed and it may seem uncomplete for people used to most recent BM releases but it's very much worth the time it takes to truly appreciate this record. |

| A very controversial album for Opeth fans. Personally I think that Morningrise is a large improvement to their debut but they didn't uncover their full potential here yet. There is a lot of truly brilliant music but the band hadn't been able to put it together very well. As a result we get a collection of some of the longest Opeth songs that often sound like they are stiched together from several not necessarily matching components. And half the time it works. But it's only half the time. The production is also very raw and it's propably the least heavy of all their (metal) records. However it creates a very tranquil, peaceful feeling that is unique to this album. Overall it's a interesting listen but they surpassed it by a large amount on MAYH. |

| Havok is one of the few bands that prove that thrash metal is not dead yet. They were able to combine all of the best elements of classic thrash. We have some more aggresive tunes some punkish ones and a lot of great harmonized guitars. Vocals are raw and aggresive and the production perfectly balances all of the instruments, even the bass guitar which actually sometimes breaks through and gives songs another layer of sound. |

| A record that is very hard to rate. For every masterpiece like atmospheric 'No Quarter' there is a sack of shit like 'The Crunge'. Overall good or mediocore songs outweight the bad ones but still the record is inconsistent in terms of both quality and musical direction. Robert Plant's sudden singing style change while certainly interesting in many cases just ruins good songs, 'Over the hills and far away' for example. This may be the most overrated piece of music Led Zeppelin has ever recorded. |

| Filled with contrasting emotions. The band was able to channel tremendous pain and sorrow but also hints of hope and happines. Tracks go together really well, album tempo is just perfect and the epic closer 'A Plea for Understanding' is propably one of the most moving tracks i've heard. This may be the album of the year. |
