Judas Priest Killing Machine
On Killing Machine Priest started to go into more main-stream hard rock direction and it didn't serve them all that well. Apart from few great tracks we get load of anthemic simplistic 80's rockers that aren't particularly enjoyable or memorable. Still the execution is pretty good and Halford lowering his singing register to fit the music is an interesting change.

Judas Priest Stained Class
One of the best Priest records, I'll propably never decide whether I prefer this or 'Sad Wings of Destiny'. This one has much darker and melancholic tone and a bit of that prog rock edge combined with hints of what Priest would become in 80's. It's definitely their most diverse 70's record and the guitars never have sounded so metallic ever before. Heavy melodic riffing contrasting with short bits of clean guitars which make tracks even darker -sounding and causing them to have bigger impact. All this combined with impressive Halford vocals create one of the finest heavy metal records ever recorded.

Godsmack When Legends Rise
The single was awful the rest of the album lives up to it.

Winterfylleth The Hallowing of Heirdom
Folk album from a black metal band can definitely be something a bit risky but I'm so glad they did it. Melancholic, dark sound completed with chanting vocals and soft acoustic guitar makes this a worthwile listen and an excellent record to soothe a disturbed mind.

Queensryche Operation: Mindcrime
One of the finest metal records of late '80s. Inspired by classic NWOBHM bands Queensryche takes melodic guitars, and theatrical vocals to next level and uses them to tell a great story while adding a bit of lighter rock influences. All of this creates incredible, immersive experience.

Tribulation Down Below
Nothing special. General conept of mixing black/death metal with melodic gothic rock sounds good but it doesn't really feel like its explored here to the point where it would start to get interesting.
