This isn't supposed to happen. The Tallest Man on Earth There's No Leaving Now4.5El-P Cancer 4 Cure5.0This is El-p fully realizing every good idea he's ever had, culminating in one of the greatest hip hop albums I've listened to. He perfects his flow, lyrics, and creates more accessible yet more atmospheric and mood building beats than anything he's done. The album is a moving trip through one of the most well crafted concepts recorded. He's really just showing off at this point. Death Grips The Money Store3.0For a few days, I thought this was THE new shit. Then my ears just hurt. It's interesting and novel, but ultimately the beats are subpar, especially when they aren't heavy or "raw" enough to achieve that aggressiveness that seems a worthy goal in itself. The lyrics are generally good, and I personally dig Ride's delivery. Especially when he sounds genuinely angry, which is unfortunately lost for a fair portion of the record. Much better than Exmilitary, but that wasn't hard.Clubroot III - MMXII5.0Burial Kindred5.0Just in case you thought his imitators could someday come close.2011 The Weeknd Echoes of Silence4.5Massive Attack vs. Burial Four Walls/Paradise Circus4.5James Blake Enough Thunder3.0Emika Emika3.5Das Racist Relax2.5The Weeknd Thursday4.5Jay-Z and Kanye West Watch the Throne4.0Fair to Midland Arrows and Anchors4.0Zomby Dedication4.5Shabazz Palaces Black Up4.5Tyler, the Creator Goblin2.5Death Grips Exmilitary1.5I like a couple of songs a little bit...most of it is truly unlistenable in my book.Grouper A I A4.5Swarms Old Raves End4.0Burial Street Halo4.5The Weeknd House of Balloons4.0Radiohead The King of Limbs4.0Glassjaw Coloring Book4.5James Blake James Blake4.52010 Kanye West My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy4.5Underoath Ø (Disambiguation)4.0Skrillex Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites3.0James Blake Klavierwerke4.0Das Racist Sit Down, Man4.0Swans My Father Will Guide Me Up a Rope to the Sky4.5Linkin Park A Thousand Suns1.5Danger Mouse and Sparklehorse Dark Night of the Soul3.5Eminem Recovery1.5Clubroot II - MMX4.0Deftones Diamond Eyes4.5Das Racist Shut Up, Dude3.02009 Tyler, the Creator Bastard2.5Rishloo Feathergun4.0Converge Axe to Fall3.5Brand New Daisy4.5Raekwon Only Built 4 Cuban Linx... Tool has often lived up to their pretentiousness, but failed miserably with this release. This is Isaac Brock finding a degree of happiness in the world. These catchy melodies reflect that. Earlier works (especially the first two lp's) were works of depression and turmoil. The raw emotion of those albums is a large part of what made them great. This is simply a different kind of emotion. Everything in this album is genuine, and is in no way selling out. That said, it isn't as complete an album as their first three, and feels more like a collection of songs than a furnished record, and is not perfect.Madvillain Madvillainy5.0BEST RAP ALBUM OF ALL TIME...well my favorite at leastCircle Takes the Square As the Roots Undo4.0Kanye West The College Dropout4.02003 Element Eighty Element Eighty4.0Kayo Dot Choirs of the Eye4.5Viktor Vaughn Vaudeville Villain4.5Avenged Sevenfold Waking the Fallen4.0Radiohead Hail to the Thief4.5Off Minor The Heat Death of the Universe4.52002 Porcupine Tree In Absentia4.5Glassjaw Worship and Tribute4.0Eminem The Eminem Show3.0Ugly Casanova Sharpen Your Teeth5.02001 Nas STILLmatic4.0Converge Jane Doe4.5Radiohead Amnesiac4.5maudlin of the Well Bath4.52000 Radiohead Kid A5.0Deftones White Pony5.0Modest Mouse The Moon & Antarctica4.5Eminem The Marshall Mathers LP4.0Bohren und der Club of Gore Sunset Mission4.51999 DJ Krush Kaku-Sei4.5I don't know if this is an objective rating, but I absolutely never get tired of this album. Regardless of my surroundings listening to it takes all of my attention, I find it difficult to read on even the minimal ambient tracks. From the lofi voice samples to the post-rock opuses and folk the entire thing works to create the most disturbing and strange world in music, and the sequencing is so well done, it would be a shame to skip a track of this 2.5 hour album.Modest Mouse This Is a Long Drive for Someone with Nothing to Think About5.0DJ Shadow Endtroducing.....4.5Converge Petitioning the Empty Sky4.51995 Tricky Maxinquaye4.5Swans The Great Annihilator4.51994 Nas Illmatic4.51992 Tom Waits Bone Machine4.51989 Pixies Doolittle4.01988 Pixies Surfer Rosa4.51983 Swans Filth4.51970 Miles Davis Bitches Brew4.5
