Each album has it's own unique signature, and 'Self Preserved' is no exception. While it may take more than a single listen to grow on certain listeners, it certainly has at least a few tracks that are instant classics. After my third listen, I was convinced that this album is just as amazing as their previous work, if not more soDead Letter Circus This Is The Warning4.0Deftones Diamond Eyes4.5Sevendust Cold Day Memory4.02009 Oceansize Home & Minor4.0Porcupine Tree The Incident3.5Oceansize Feed to Feed5.0dredg The Pariah, The Parrot, The Delusion3.0Karnivool Sound Awake4.52008 Steven Wilson Insurgentes5.0Dead Letter Circus Next In Line4.0Sevendust Chapter VII: Hope and Sorrow1.02007 Oceansize Frames5.0The third full-length album from Oceansize. "Frames", upon my very first listen, completely changed the way that I listen to and appreciate music today. It's absolutely life-altering and beautifully haunting. These songs will not let me go...it's the best album I've ever heard.Fair to Midland Fables From a Mayfly: What I Tell You Three Times is True5.0Porcupine Tree Fear of a Blank Planet5.0In my opinion, the one Porcupine Tree album that is totally solid throughout the entire disc. Each song flows into the next with seamless precision, and each provides enough unique identity to stand on it's own while maintaining a sense of purpose and bringing a well balanced pace to the album. Steven Wilsons' vocals on this album, for some reason, stand out above other Porcupine Tree releases. The vocal is simply more catchy and well written than, say, In Absentia...which is an amazing album as well, but carries the signature PT curse of at least one dead, pointless, or over drawn song that sticks out like a sore thumb. "Fear of a Blank Planet" is not a perfect album, but it's definitely a strong counterpart to 2005's "Deadwing", which I feel is still the bands' best release to date.Dead Letter Circus Dead Letter Circus4.0Sevendust Alpha4.02006 Deftones Saturday Night Wrist4.0Porcupine Tree Arriving Somewhere...5.02005 Sevendust Next3.0Oceansize Everyone Into Position4.0dredg Catch Without Arms4.0Porcupine Tree Deadwing5.0Karnivool Themata4.52004 Oceansize Music for Nurses4.0Sevendust Southside Double-Wide: Acoustic Live4.5Fair to Midland Inter.Funda.Stifle4.02003 Sevendust Seasons4.0Muse Absolution4.0Oceansize Effloresce5.0A Perfect Circle Thirteenth Step4.0Deftones Deftones3.0Oceansize One Day All This Could Be Yours3.52002 Porcupine Tree In Absentia4.0Oceansize Relapse4.5dredg El Cielo4.5Oceansize A Very Still Movement4.02001 Sevendust Animosity4.52000 Deftones White Pony5.01999 Sevendust Home4.0dredg Leitmotif4.01997 Sevendust Sevendust2.5
