It gave Jordan Dreyer I run for his money. This band has always had trouble trying to shake things up but I think they finally found it whenever they occasionally wander into deathcore-esque territory while still maintaining to steer the ship back to their signature sound. This was a success.Invent Animate Heavener5.0Who would have known that in 2023 there would be a metalcore album with whiny vocals that would completely innovate the genre.2022 Electric Callboy TEKKNO2.0AA! isn't dumb enough to make a BassHunter/metalcore cringe fest track. Dear Wendy>Stray from the Path Euthanasia1.0Until I Wake Inside My Head2.5An unfortunate miscue. "Octane" was a massive hit. But unfortunately, the band could not hold it together while writing their debut. A bunch of talent thrown away due to lack of stamina and ideas for a full-length. Shame.Armor For Sleep The Rain Museum3.5Managed to not ditch their roots. Rather, embracing the sound that made them who they are and making it even more accessible opposed to watering it down like MGK and other artists. Vocals from Jorgensen are rather flat as a result of either boredom or just being rusty from hiatus. Armor For Sleep and Anberlin is shaping 2022 and preparing the future to be a bright one for the alt rock / Pop Punk Revival scene and I couldn't be more stoked.Miss May I Curse of Existence4.0Melodic Deathcore [2] I Prevail TRUE POWER1.0Why is this band popular? Swan Song inspired genericore. I'd rather listen to jersey shore- core revival. Bring back AAS!Valoria Dead Languages3.5Memphis May Fire Remade in Misery3.0Step in the right direction. It's just too bad they took too many freaking erratic steps backwards on their last three albums? Maybe four? Who the heck knows. Also, what I find silly is that some tracks rule hard but mid song when they build up and hype you up to what you assume would be a nice breakdown, they instead ditch it and do some weird random shit. I understand you don't want to be cliche but just stick to what you're good at.Scary Kids Scaring Kids Out Of Light2.0Great idea for an album but unfortunately, it falls flat on its face. Whether it's the completely lackluster instrumentals from the band or the spectacular vocal roster completely dropping the ball with their terrible performances. Although something good did come out of this: Matt Macdonald (The Classic Crime) was only one that put meticulous care into his feature with some finesse chops and gut wrenching lyrics. One of the prettiest songs I have ever heard.Static Dress Rouge Carpet Disaster5.0Chaotic delicate madness. When Forever Ends Leviathan3.5Wolves at the Gate Eulogies4.5Seems like this album was invented in a lab to make it the most catchiest earworm in all metalcore. It's that damn clever. In Angles Cardinal3.5A delightful find for me. Nothing too ground breaking, but I've personally have never heard Pop- Punk and Mathcore blended so well before. I enjoyed the strip down production too, all these elements create something refreshing.2021 Volumes Happier?4.5A melodic hardcore revival with some random bubblegum pop influences? I'm all about it. Gold Necklace Gold Necklace3.0Kurt Travis is an amazing vocalist. Hell, probably my favorite singer of all time. But, listening to thirty minutes straight of just his falsetto is strenuous. Instrumentally, it's sounds like they took mathcore and watered it down to the point where it sounds midwestern emo.Limp Bizkit Still Sucks5.0rage can suck a throbbing cockrBizkit >>>>> Attack Attack! Long Time, No Sea3.5Wasn't sure what to think of the new AA! when I first listened to the singles out of context. But after listening to them in its entirety, this EP is wildly fun. Kudos to Chris Parketny for adjusting his vocal style to really making this record sound a lot like their selftitled. Production is great. Never thought this band could make a tight record without Johnny Frank. Maybe it was Caleb Shomo that plagued the band the whole time.Knocked Loose A Tear in the Fabric of Life4.5Bilmuri 400LB Back Squat5.0Bilmuri: evolving metalcore to ludicrous and unthinkable heights since 2016Spiritbox Eternal Blue4.5Eidola The Architect4.5It's nice to listen to a competent progressive post-hardcore record that doesn't hold the low brow connotation of the likes of swancore or hearing that half the album is a victim of going pop like some of these bands do. It feels like it's 2013 and I'm listening to Hands Like Houses!Jonny Craig The Places We'll Never Be4.5Damn my boy Jonny on some House of Balloons type shit.Turnstile Glow On5.0Chunk! No, Captain Chunk! Gone Are The Good Days3.0Pretty delightful album if I'm being honest. Album starts off slow and then picks up with some really pleasant moments. The overall tone of the album is uncertainty and gloom. Lyrically, it seems to talk about the sting of nostalgia. Pretty cool and sad considering this genre of music is pretty much dead. Cons: Vocalist sounds bored or at least out of his comfort zone. As I mentioned before, this genre is pretty much dead, so the band seems to have a hard time balancing the remains of the whole easycore/metalcore thing and the big melting pot of confusing influences they were aiming for in this record.KennyHoopla Survivors Guilt: The Mixtape//3.5Loveless Loveless I4.52020 Bilmuri Eggy Pocket3.5Bring Me the Horizon Post Human: Survival Horror4.0Kingdom of Giants Passenger4.0Machine Gun Kelly Tickets to My Downfall4.0Who would have known that lackluster emo trap and 00s pop punk actually mixes into something pretty awesome? More importantly, I commend MGK for using his status to attempt to revive pop punk or rock in general back into the mainstream.Rain City Drive To Better Days5.0This album had small room for error and they capitalized with flying colors. The production is bottom line flawless, much tighter than their last attempt and devoid of cringy trap taps scattered throughout. The strong song writing and production sets it up nicely to where Matt can easily hit a home run with his seasoned background of premier professional singing. Matt turned Slaves into a pop act without shying away from a standard mainstream songwriting formula, and the rest of the band followed suit and did their best to compliment him surprisingly without selling out. Slaves seems like THE ONLY band to do the whole post hc/pop rock shtick correctly. 5/5Joan Cloudy5.0August Burns Red Guardians4.0The band's biggest effort to shake up their discography via an overhaul in their usual nagging overproduced perfected sound, choosing a distorted new look. The final product creates something more organic, gritty, and extremely powerful. This was a success.Dua Lipa Future Nostalgia4.0So, for everyone who is mad that people are comparing this to Emotion needs to keep their mouth shut. This modern pop 80s-esque composition is very much indeed a worthy rival to the beloved classic Emotion. The Word Alive Monomania2.5Not necessarily bad, but 12 tracks of The Word Alive goes pop is ad nauseam. What I adore about this record is how vulnerable Kirby is with his lyrics and the album in general has this hopeless gloom to it. They only parts I couldn't vibe with was the slower timed slipknot esque attempts. But fortunately, all those tracks were only two minutes or so. Oblivion is probably the greatest ending to an album if I have ever heard one.Time, The Valuator How Fleeting, How Fragile3.0Dance Gavin Dance Artificial Selection3.0Kids See Ghosts Kids See Ghosts4.0Kanye West ye3.0Pusha T DAYTONA4.0nothing,nowhere. ruiner3.5Call It Home Better Days4.5Rain City Drive Beautiful Death5.02017 Polaris The Mortal Coil4.0One of the most refreshing and competent metalcore records I've heard in a while. Even more impressive when you consider that this came out in 2017 when we thought that the genre has been wrung out to ad nauseam. Get's a bit tiresome near the end though. Also want to point out how ridiculous sputnik's user base is considering how identical this sounds to Wage War.Like Moths to Flames Dark Divine4.5Never been remotely interested in this band, but they sure hit the mark this time around. Completely dropping their adolescent roots, and composing something mature and consistent. It's a little bit more accessible or mainstream, but man! does it work so well. I adore this album. (4.2)Big K.R.I.T. 4eva Is a Mighty Long Time5.0We Came As Romans Cold Like War3.0I'm curious as to why they ditched Dave Stephens on cleans when he did a pretty darn good job on prior album. Regardless, the band shockingly reinvents itself with some really well executed heavy breakdowns and technicality. Unfortunately, they seems a little disconnected as the album struggles to be cohesive with confusing experimental production and 80s-esque clean choruses most likely provoked by Kyle. Still a solid attempt nonetheless.Bilmuri Banana5.0August Burns Red Phantom Anthem2.0Thousand Below The Love You Let Too Close5.0This composition has all the fundamentals of Define The Great Line while also being an evolved substance of the creativity of influences like a Sleeping With Sirens. Dead Memory, Cold Room, and We Are All Lost are some of the best tracks of their career, and it's the rooted fast paced modern metalcore sound that they're best at. Feels like they're trying to ease their way into a new boring conservative metal makeup.Casey Love Is Not Enough4.5Too Close to Touch Haven't Been Myself5.0Touche Amore Stage Four5.0Fire from the Gods Narrative4.0Quickly becoming one of my favorite bands. You will never listen to an album as smooth as this one, with the jazzy soulful delicate beats produced by the wizardly talent of producer Ktoven. And, you will also never fathom lyricism as harmless and philosophical as the poetic Tut. A very beautifully crafted album. Also, shout out to all the talented people who laid down the saxophones solos!2014 Stolas Allomaternal3.0You will find some real exciting moments on here, but in all honesty, it's hidden behind this vast lackluster and quite boring sound that made up their debut. It just might be worth your time to listen to a more consistent band.PVRIS White Noise4.5Alive Like Me Only Forever3.5This album is basically every pop trope late 00s metalcore bands crammed into their music when they're not chugging and or in a ridiculous breakdown except this album doesn't have the ladder. And it's actually an amusing listen hahaEmarosa Versus3.0Sleeping Giant Finished People4.5The Word Alive Real.4.0A very amusing record to say the least. This album is the start of this reputable band going stale, but the album still holds up as it is full of life and vigor. The band also managed to withstand the disaster of Cameron Mizell's take on most of the genre's junior albums that he produced with the shotty and harsh production, a weird direction that he was attempting to mold the scene with at the time. Somehow, the album turned out great with tight production but with a hint of the rawness that Mizell was shooting for. Some tracks like Broken Circuit for an example is some of the most experimental attempts yet. Telle's vocals are flat, Lighthouse and The Runaway are train wrecks. But despite that, this is perhaps one of the last known memories of TWA being a cohesive and joyful band.Beartooth Disgusting1.0SECRETS Fragile Figures (Deluxe)4.5Brutally fantastic. They added a few more mind blowing tracks to an already mind blowing record. I would have never imagine this band being even more faster and energetic, but the new tracks unbelievably proves me wrong. This band was truly the best of its time.Capsize I've Been Tearing Myself Apart3.0Jamie's Elsewhere Rebel - Revive4.5This is a culmination of all the hard work the whole modern post hardcore scene was striving for in the late 00s. It would be an understatement to say they were ahead of their time. Big names in the scene took a long time to pump out such energetic and groovy melodies like this. These guys did as soon as they appeared on the scene. Clean vocalist, Angel Flores flexes all over this album with his infectious and versatile licks and runs. It's a shame Rise didn't get these guys the backing they needed. This album is a solid metalcore release in complete retrospect. Breakdowns are reserved and songwriting is truly cleverly mature and melodic all throughout. (3.7)Jamie's Elsewhere They Said a Storm Was Coming4.5This band is so talented that I amusingly like to think they stigmatized this album with unwarranted cliche synths and breakdowns just to challenge themselves and see how well they could execute it. Obviously, their soulful take on post hc wasn't interesting at the time, so they had to asking alexandria it up, which makes this album a fun beautiful enigma.2009 Blessthefall Witness4.5Advent Naked and Cold5.0August Burns Red Constellations5.0Broadway Kingdoms4.5Dance Gavin Dance Happiness5.0Vanna A New Hope4.0This album should be respected by everyone.
