All That Remains Victim of the New Disease | 2.5 |
Better than a lot of their previous output but still nothing stellar. It suffers from a lot of the issues previous ATR albums have (godawful lyrics, overproduction, some downright boring tracks) but unlike their other albums this is not a chore to get through. In fact there were songs that were actually *gasp* entertaining to listen to (Fuck Love in particular surprised me). |

A step in the right direction after Maximalism, however it suffers from a couple bland moments and the vocal performances from everyone not named Elize Ryd. The new clean vocalist harmonizes well with Elize, but when asked to sing on his own is underwhelming compared to who he replaced. The harsh vocalist's rapping is enough to make your ears bleed. Despite Elize's great chorus, GG6 is just dreadful to get through because of his godawful rapping. Both the male clean and harsh vocalist would make better additions by subtraction. Outside of that the album has some moments. Momentum is probably my favorite of the bunch. |

It's not bad. You won't hate yourself for listening to this. However this album isn't nearly as fun and catchy as In Control and The Quiet Resistance were. Nothing in this album is really groundbreaking. Chances are you'll listen to this, get a sense of deja vu and think "oh hey this song is just like X, except X did it much better." |
Rebel Wizard Voluptuous Worship of Rapture and Response | 4.0 |
The Poor and Ridiculous Alchemy of Christ and Lucifer and Us All is just fun to listen to. |
Trivium What the Dead Men Say | 4.0 |
Anyone expecting this to be as great as Shogun is going to be disappointed. However this album is still worth a listen. The riffs are catchy and the songwriting in general is appealing. I wouldn't call it a technical masterpiece but it really doesn't need to be. What The Dead Men Say a fun album to listen to, which is more than I can say for a lot of Trivium's previous output. |
