Asking Alexandria Reckless and Relentless
Though it might not be the most skilled and definitely not groundbreaking album ever released, it is more or less the manifestation of the band itself. Being in their 20s the band members grew up on rock like Def Leppard and Motley Crue and Skid Row, and they focus the main idea of this album on that rock n' roll life style, as evident in the title track. The metalcore sound is even completely dropped for the song "someone, somewhere" as a straight up 80s rock anthem dedicated to various family members and a band member by the vocalist Danny Worsnop. a majority of modern metalcore bands do nothing of the sort. Though they use the breakdown more liberally than i would wish, they also have quite the arsenal of intrigue packed into the release. Danny's singing is much more common and far better than on the first release, and the guitars, at least the lead, have a good number of licks that catch my ear. While it is in no way the album of the year, it is a guilty pleasure, in my opinion, reminiscent of the great rock bands of the 80s.

Asking Alexandria Life Gone Wild
Though i appreciate and very much like the homage they pay to their influence on this ep, it is greatly undermined by the presence of the dubstep. Though i understand that being british they have a more endearing attachment to electronic music than your average american joe, but in my opinion, it was unnecessary. It did, however impress the dubstep loving high schoolers and most likely gained the band a few more fans. Still, this release did nothing more than gain money and attention, which is the entire purpose of an ep, is it not? In the end, though it was sloppily done, the mission was accomplished.
