| kanye spits the worst lyrics of his career in the same elementary school flows he used on ye and KSG. the instrumentals are pretty good, but dont mesh at all with the vocals, and the transitions are awkward. the album seems to jump from one idea to another without any overall structure or flow. however, "water" is a welcome surprise, with warm bassy synthesizers and an inoffensive kanye "verse" (more like a mantra) asking jesus to save him from various things. this could be annoying if it went on too long, but he manages to keep it pretty tasteful, which i couldve appreciated more if he hadnt already said "lifelike, this is what your life like" earlier in the album. "god is" has some raw (in a good way) singing, but it gets old when ye abuses this annoying flow the whole time and never changes it up even when the instrumental almost begs him to. overall, trash album would not recommend/10 |
