The Open Door showed the band trying a little bit old and a little bit new (to mixed results) but the latest release demonstrates a band ready to move in a new direction. Amy's vocals are stronger than ever, the lyrics have matured and thankfully the angst appears to have been toned down somewhat. None of the other band members are really given much chance to shine though and this has resulted in a lot of the songs having little personality of their own. With a little more focus on utilizing the whole band's talents, this could have been a real classic. As it stands though, this is still a strong release and shows a band that is willing to grow.
