| What really seals the deal, for me, is the inclusion of the drums of Chris Adler. Admittedly, he was only used as a session drummer, but God damn! Still, the ever-solid tapped intros, the fantastic prog. riffs, the insane bass of Arif, and the high, clean vocals of Rody all combine to make a delicious offering from Protest the Hero. It seems like they really felt the pressure of having this album be crowd-funded, and delivered. This is genuinely one of the best offerings both in terms of prog/rock/metal/hardcore albums and music that has been made in the last few years. In every song there is genuine inspiration, their now notorious social commentary, a bit of sophomoric humor, but most of all the refined craftsmanship of matured, deeply skilled musicians. While, it may not be for everyone, I am positive everyone can find at least one chorus or riff that will catch his or her ear. In a word this albums is fantastic. |
