| The muscianship on this album is the finest you'll hear from the Facedown roster. HFTD more than improving their instrument playing they have matured in their song writing and production choices. Rather than minutes of inflated orchestra and keys as on Dissimulation, Aletheia keeps the stringed section to a minimum. Vocals have always been powerful, but not until Aletheia has there really been any range. Perhaps my only problem with the album is the drumming. It's never really more than a time keeping device which is very dissappointing considering the amazing guitar and progressive elements present. |

| I have a difficult time giving this a 2.5, even though I think this album is mostly pretty average to Andy's previous material as well as his peers' music--so I gave it a 3 because it does have some good things going for it. If anything, Andy consistently improves his production album to album and Uncomfortable is no exception. He has an ear for catchy beats which makes the album enjoyable. However, his lyrical skills are...not so good. He bounces from one topic to another within a song so often that it leaves each song feeling aimless. Additionally, Andy doesn't possess the same introspection and clarity that his peer Lecrae has. Which in other genres wouldn't be much of an issue. However, rap has a distinct focus on the lyrics and the power of words that for a rap album and its rapper not to offer much in the way of lyrics makes his/her work seem self-defeating. Overall--if you like Andy Mineo's previous music then you will like this. But if you didn't, you probably won't like this, because it suffers the same weaknesses of his previous work. |
