5.0 classic
Radiohead OK Computer
You know how great an album is when it's weakest song is one as good as the twisted, explosive "Electioneering". Each song delivers a powerful, intimate, understated quality that ground the album when it strives for the epic, breathtaking moments. The lyrics resonate in the way they turn eccentric observations into genuine universal sentiments in a way I've rarely heard. I know everyone says it's the greatest album ever (or overrated) but it simply is my faveourite album of all-time. It deserves to be overrated.
Weezer Pinkerton
My 2nd faveourite album of all-time, it's a shame that this one became so influential on many of the (usually) awful self-pirtying emo bands. What I find with them is that their music is simply far too ridiculously spit polished for their angst to really fell genuine and never really show the awkwardness, guts, and passion that they should be showing. This record is just so delightfully messy with every sreech of feedback and 'room sound' (amp switch, door opening) getting picked up by the mics that you really feel the grit of the immensely powerful tunes with their disturbingly detailed lines, tight structures and delighfully flashy yet simple guitar solos. A reckless, awkward, possibly dangerous classic.

4.5 superb
Drake Take Care

4.0 excellent
OutKast Stankonia
This one is a current faveourite album of mine. I must say rediscovering their makes me realise how special Outkast are. A hip-hop group with an appeal and ambition beyond any pop group, let alone rap group of their day, things like that are very rare in the it-is-cool-to-bash-pop-music world we have. Anyway, while the 2 songs I was familiar with ('Ms Jackson' and 'B.O.B' of course) are absolutely fantastic, I am slightly dissapointed that the remaining 14 songs aren't quite as ber-brilliant as them, but none are bad (except maybe for 'Hoez') and plenty of songs like 'Humble Mumble' 'Gasoline Dreams' and 'Gangsta Shit' come close to those two crowning acheivements.

3.5 great
Kanye West Yeezus
One of the most annoying problems that comes with evaluating Kanye West's music is that for many people it's virtually impossible for them to actually talk about the music without associating it with his public persona, regardless if its positive or negative. So considering that 'Yeezus' sounds like West baiting absolutely everyone and a deliberte attempt to play his caricatured image to the furthest extent for maximum reaction. I can't help but feel that Yeezus is *not* him but rather what the world thinks he is, but enough of that crap because thinking about that just constantly gets in the way of the music, and much of it here is pretty damn good. 'Black Skinhead' and 'New Slaves' have been obvious jems since their debut on SNL but 'Guilt Trip', 'Bound 2', 'Hold My Liquor' and much others are sll top-notch Kanye. Ultimately some parts to it are more fascinating or interesting than enjoyable, but I can confirm whilst (trying to) avoid as much Kool-aid drinking as possible that Kanye West is still at the top of his game in making fulfilling, daring pop music.
Kings of Leon Only By The Night

3.0 good
Radiohead Hail to the Thief
A notable case of a Radiohead album that was enjoyed in its time, can still be enjoyed now but hasn't really been loved (by me, at least) as much as their acknowledged classics. There are a few indispensible classic moments with the three singles (particularly 'There There') still ranking among their best work, as well as a few others like 'Sail to the Moon'. But there's simply more pretty good moments than great ones, and 'We Suck Young Blood' and 'The Gloaming' are horrible songs that break the album's flow in the middle, it also suffers from lack of uniform strength. It's still worth a listen but is a bit of a letdown by their standards.
U2 No Line on the Horizon
I find this album better than most people find it. Yes, it isn't perfection, the lyrics could have been sharper and 'Get On Your Boots' was an embarrasing flop on a single (it's not *that* bad though and is far better than Stand Up Comedy, which is awful and 'Crazy' which is possibly even worse). But when this album is good it is brilliant. 'Breathe' would've made a great first single, 'Magnificent' is very good, too, the title track is awesome and if you ignore the lyrics 'Unknown Caller' is breathtaking musically. So while it is wildly uneven, the parts where it succeed are some of the finest stuff in the band's history.

1.0 awful
Weezer The Red Album
Of the Weezer albums I have listened through, The Blue debut is a classic record, Pinkerton is even better and in an elite class of its own and the Green album is very good and amlost as good as the other two. This however, is terrible. 'Troublemaker' is a somewhat catchy tune so long as you ignore the stink lyrics, but everything else here is just awful. 'Pork and Beans' may be their most overrated song and 'Greatest Man...' may have some cool ideas but is simply too silly to really appreciate. It's a shame for a such delightful sunny and noisy band to reduce themselves to one-dimensional "geeky dadrockers" as it seems on this album.
