When I first heard Parkway Drive, I was blown away. Not only did they combine pasionate lyrics with amazing guitar riffs and pounding drums, but they spoke for a whole generation of kids and teens. I was blown away! I knew I had to hear more from this band, so I ran out and bought a hard copy of the album at Best Buy.
The album opens up with a bang with "Gimme A D." Its an explosion of sound that cannot be compared to anything else in the genre. Its a stunning array of riffs and screams that will make the hair on your arms rise up. The two stepping drum rhythms will make you want to jump up and dance. A few songs later we have "Romance is Dead," which is the overall best song on the album. The huge riffs combined with blood curling screams and growls will make you go insane. You will probably want to start your own personal mosh pit, especially when the vocalist yells out "CRY ME A ***ING RIVER BITCH!" I lose my mind whenever I hear that line, and I'm sure you will, to.
There isn't really a bad song on the album at all. Its a violent array of screams, breakdowns, and flying windmills and spinkicks. If you have never heard these guys, I highly recommend you head straight to youtube and search for them, because they will change your life. |
