Aphex Twin Richard D. James Album
Brian Eno Another Green World
The best album of all time. Eno's soundscapes paint incredibly vivid pictures (see "The Big Ship") in an almost vignette like way. It's as if these songs are audible dreams, but unlike a wonderful dream, that you can only enjoy once, one can listen to this album again and again, appreciating the scenes more and more. Every song is a great and worthwhile listen. Incredibly ahead of its time and incredibly engaging, Another Green World, along with the rest of Eno's discography, deserves a listen from just about everyone. 10/10
DJ Shadow Endtroducing.....
Frank Zappa Hot Rats
A self-described "movie for your ears". I concur! 10/10
Godspeed You! Black Emperor F♯ A♯ ∞
Kayo Dot Choirs of the Eye
Perfectly described by its title, Choirs of the Eye is an incredibly visual piece of work. With atypical song structures and odd chord voicings, Toby Driver creates an avant-garde masterpiece. My favorite part about this album is that the first few times you listen to it, you have no idea why it works so well. Hell, you don't even know if you really enjoy it or not. But then, once one truly dissects this album, truly gets lost in it, and truly sees the songs unfolding, it finally clicks. 10/10
Neutral Milk Hotel In the Aeroplane Over the Sea
Believe me, I've tried not loving this album. Not feeling the raw emotion of Jeff Mangum's voice, not getting lost in the music and Jeff's fantasy world, not singing along to every lyric, not screaming along with King of Carrot Flowers Pt 2&3, stomping my feet to Holland, 1945, or being on the verge of tears during Two Headed-Boy Part 2. I've tried doing these things, but I just can't, it's just that good. The music itself is so simple, but the way it's delivered makes it so incredibly unique. If you haven't listened to this, you cannot consider yourself a true lover of music 9.9/10

Radiohead Amnesiac
I wake up to the sound of tin pounding in my ears. It's been years since I've been awake. I take a look at my surroundings. I am an ocean, waves pulsate within me. Voices. There's nothing to fear. At least that's what they say. Wake up. Who's there? Dead people! Live people! One person! Nothing behind you. Doors that open and shut. I'm okay. I used to think there was no future. I used to think. But now I know. I'm not okay. I long for the river, full of insatiable desire. Thousands of voices. This is real. And I'm yearning for this. Help me. It's so dark. Join me. I'm telling the truth. Help me. or else I'm not coming back. Good morning. rStill dark. We are the dollar and cents, the pounds, the pence. And we're gonna crush your little souls. Let's carry on marching into the light. But really I'm trapped. And alone. In a glass house. that's me. but theres someone listening 9.8/10
Radiohead Kid A
Everything In Its Right Place. A forecast of the present isolated, distanced generation and a prediction of the future dystopia that is inevitably to come of it. Both an exploration of Yorke's chaotic future world and of his own chaotic psyche. The greatest "concept" album of all time. 10/10
Radiohead OK Computer
One of the best albums of the 90's and a great social commentary on its distanced generation. A true "period piece". 9.8/10
Sufjan Stevens The Age of Adz
I want to be well, I want to be well, I want to be well, I want to be well, I want to be well, I want to be well, I want to be well, I want to be well, I want to be well, I want to be well, I want to be well, I want to be well, I want to be well, I want to be well, I want to be well, I want to be well, I want to be well, I want to be well, I want to be well, I want to be well, I want to be well, I want to be well, I'm not fucking around. These songs are not just painted as bright as the work of Royal Robertson, but are also just as insane as the 'self-proclaimed prophet' himself. But this album isn't about Robertson; it's about its creator. Struggling with suicidal thoughts and paranoia, Sufjan decides to express his emotions the best way there is: art. The Age of Adz itself is a mental breakdown with its schizophrenic rhythms and instrumentation. But what makes this album so great is the fact that it manages to do everything and still work. And I by everything I mean everything. Take the 25 minute epic, Impossible Soul, which is in itself the essence of The Age of Adz You can just see the man screaming and tearing his soul out and putting it into it; because this album isn't just apocalyptic, it is self-apocalyptic. A modern classic. 10/10
The Beatles The Beatles
Single-handedly proves The Beatles are ...well The Beatles. A great microcosm of a legendary band. This album should be studied in universities.9.9/10

4.5 superb
Animal Collective Sung Tongs
Animal Collective Feels
Oh Animal Collective, how are you so, so silly yet so, so brilliant? AC is one of the few experimental bands that manages to find that balance between experimental ambiance and core song accessibility. Feels, the band's fifth album is where this balance is fully understood. The song's first two tracks could easily be considered pop, yet they still have that ambiance that pushes it to that extra limit. The textures on this album are incredible. The pulsating chase of The Purple Bottle, the hazy swarm of Bees, the wetness of Banshee Beat, and the bird's crow on Loch Raven are just a few elements created. Indeed, there are many things to be felt on Feels, and as our narrator refrains: feeling is good. 9.0/10
Animal Collective Strawberry Jam
Animal Collective Merriweather Post Pavilion
Now I'm going to try keep my fan-boy ranting to a minimum, but jesus christ AnCo, thank you so much for this. This is our generation's pop album. But merely calling it a pop album would be selling it short. No Merriweather is an experience. It contains the sounds of an outdoor venue and the pulsating movement of being at a concert. The electronic sounds may seem artificial at first, but there is something natural, truly breathing in this album. The music seems to grow, just as a human does throughout its life, and as the band itself has done throughout its career. Our narrator sings of the woes of taking on responsibility and adulthood while still trying to live stress free. From the greeting introduction, In The Flowers, to the jam of a lifetime conclusion, Brothersport, MPP does not stop moving. This is Animal Collective fully realized, fully matured, and fully performed; An experience to remember for a life time 9.7/10

Sonic Youth Daydream Nation
What truly makes Daydream Nation so awesome and as iconic as it has become is just how "raw" it is. Its feedback, its drones, Thurston Moore's voice-cracks, the alternate tunings; its imperfections are what make it so unique. An incredibly influential record that is very near and dear to me. 9.4/10

Say Anything ...Is a Real Boy
The adolescents' swan song. A hateful spiteful teenager, his hate and spite caused by the high school jocks that made his life a living hell, is walking slowly, through a vector. He's wearing a belt and his face is covered with woe as if he knows his attempts will be futile. His attempts for what you ask? Most likely an attempt to ask a girl about her plans. He's socially awkward, but he's proud of the loner he's become. Chia-like, he will grow, and he'll do just fine with his car and his guitar. His music shall stay alive with the glory of love. Max Bemis Is a Real Boy. 8.2/10
