Grip Grand GG DOOM! BUT HOW?
Probably the most outstanding 'unofficial' remix I've ever heard. Grip Grand's instrumentals don't just work under these DOOM flows, they expand and grow them in new ways. The EP also has a strong narrative (the villain inventing a sound weapon). I'd give anything for an official team up between these two.

Can't really fault this selection of tracks, which nicely covers all of their albums from Blank:Wave Arcade and throws in

I feel like the production lets DOOM down a bit - some of the beats are great, but other can meander or be too boring. The Vik Vaughn persona allows DOOM to just really let loose, his raps here are as good as they ever were or will be. Again, I just miss the more complex production usually associated with him.

I've always loved the focus on simpler beats on this album. Honestly, it future-proofed it, these
tracks still sound hot as shit now. The lyrics, on the other hand, have aged terribly (and were a bit
hamfisted at the time). There's something off about the raps that I can't quite put my finger on,
given that the Beasties were never grade A writers anyway. They're a bit too simple or cheesy.
That being said, there are still some great lines, mostly from Mike D (who owns this album IMO),
and it's hard to hate something so catchy. I will note that the first half is absolutely stacked.

Totally underrated record. It kicks off with an absolute killer title track, easily PAWS' best, and then carries on for the rest of the LP in a short and concise form. Hoppus' production is absolutely brilliant, with a crunchy fuzzed out treble and huge deep bass, which works to keep the songs sonically supercharged. My one fault would be that the album loses steam a bit as the songs in the later tracklist start to just repeat the tricks of the first half, but at this length there's not really time to grow weary. Recommended!

While their previous album was a bit darker and understated, Ugly Duckling here make an album of fun tracks strung together by a loose narrative. While it's no masterpiece, there are no duds on this, and UD's brand of bouncy, old-skool flavoured hip hop is basically unimpeachable if you're into that kind of thing.

Had reservations going into this, as it's technically a solo album. But honestly I'd say it fits right

I know this is blasphemy, but I just don't enjoy this at all. Too many guests with no songs that grab me. I prefer KMD's 'Black Bastards' to this, the production seems like a step backwards. I much prefer MM FOOD, Madvillainy, DANGERDOOM, Vaudeville Villain and JJ DOOM to this.

This could easily be a 4.0 album if they cut out some of the middle flab of the album (Thieves!, Don't Get Captured etc). The beginning and end thirds of the album are truly spectacular, probably the best stuff they've done. Pity El-P let it run a little overlong.
