&U&I Light Bearer
A Much more impressive and confident sounding record than KTMTSTM. The first 8 tracks are astounding, especially Heart Full Of Fire and La Mere Vipere. Runs out of steam slightly over the last 4 tracks, but totally worthy nonetheless. &U&I have put down a marker, they are definitely ones to watch!

DFD's mission to reclaim the rights of their early material takes another step forward. Suitably bombastic sounding as per usual, the bass tone in particular really stands out, especially during Primate and Toothless Dream. Keys and horns are brought to the fore much more than on the original recordings, meaning Siddhis, Satanic Cowboy and God Crisis are nigh on perfect. The only issue holding it back for me is that Experiments was always a better album than Embryo's, meaning EIE is more skewed towards its first half.

Future Funk Squad Darker Days
Dance music generally lends itself well to being cinematically themed, and breakbeat is often especially good. Tracks like Darker Days, Disease, The Colony and particularly the hugely impressive The Hunted give the album an almost tangibly affecting atmosphere, and when they are combined with the usual FFS quality of tracks such as Rattlesnake, Monologue and Cold Matter give the album a wonderfully cohesive groove. Plus, the team up with regular collaborator Mojo (Rat Race) is as good as ever!

Hey! Hello! Hey! Hello!
Ginger Wildheart has produced his most poppy record yet, however it is still packed with meaty riffs and a proper punk attitude. Black Valentine and Swimwear feature some incredible pop hooks with full-on singalong vocals, How I Survived The Punk Wars is an out and out punk song, whose lyrics about making it in the music business should be played to every new band that comes around, and the second half of the album is just utterly sublime, although it does feature probably the weakest track Gonna Kiss You Like I'm Going Away. This is a gloriously upbeat and bouncy album that is a perfect soundtrack for the summer!

A return to the synth-driven rock sound of Purgatory, and a much more wholely cohesive sound, akin to Sex Offender. The synths create a hauntingly atmospheric feel that runs through the album, making it feel like the soundtrack to a modern day John Carpenter horror.

Baby Chaos were such a defining band for me back in the 90s, so I desperately wanted this to be great. Unfortunately it displays little of the urgency, atitude, edge or indeed heaviness of their first two albums, instead often wandering straight down the middle of the road. Only Have Faith In Yourself and PPP Peaches display anything like their original style, and keep this album (only just) above average.
