I think the first three songs are some of the best of the recent genre, but the album is strong throughout. Listen to those riffs and liken the lyrics to experiences you've had to whenever you've felt outcast, if the romance angle doesn't chime with you. Vocals to me are less whiney than those of some other 'emo-lyric' bands (Jack's Mannequin, The Get Up Kids to an extent...).
