This album really exceeded my expectations. I expected an album full of slow and depressing songs about break up and change. But I was pleasantly surprised by this album and it has grown on me with multiple listens.

I grew up on this album so this has a very nostalgic like to it. But overall the songs are just fantastic and I feel this might be the best the Gorillaz have to offer.

I originally rated this album a 5 for I pretty much loved most of the songs on it. But most is the key word in here because this album has some great songs but re-listening to the songs I didn't love made me have to lower it. The album starts off with The Queen Is Dead and for me that song seems very dragging. This album is filled with very short and sweet songs and Queen is Dead is just really long and dragging which makes me dislike the opening to the album. Then it is followed by Frankly Mr. Shankly which I just love. But then it is followed by 2 really flat songs. I can forgive the Queen is dead for being a bad opener but then you move to I Know It's Over and its really slow compared to the high tempo Frankly Mr. Shankly. Then Never Had No One Ever really kills it for me. Its really slow and is really boring compared to I know It's Over. If I never heard this album before I would stop listening but I have and the rest is just uptempo really great songs. So in conclusion this album is very good but has some flaws causing it to fall short of a 5 and land as a 4.5.
