my favorite of the "early maiden" albums I remember this as an Album i.e. Side 1 Eagles Dare 4.0/5, Revelations 6.0/5 (yes it's that good), flight of Icarus 4.5/5, Die with your boots on 4/5 so basically we have side 1 being near perfection, side 2 or the 2nd half of the album had a lot to live up to which it doesn't quite manage, "the trooper" 5/5 leads off like side 1 finished "Still Life" effectively the title track of the album 4/5 then we have effectively a couple of filler tracks quest for life 3/5 sun & steel 3/5 before what has become my unsung favorite track on the album To tame a land 6.0/5 this song continued a long line of killer last tracks for maiden, from Phantom to fear of the dark they know how to leave you wanting morer'

this album loses nothing from the departure of Dan Spitz who IMO was probably the weakest of the "big 4" lead guitarist's songs such as american pompeii, random acts of senseless violence & my favorite Nothing make this an essential Anthrax album

being a maiden fan since i can remember i think this is the better of the 2 blaze albums only because i think on this album they wanted to do a " bruce" album i.e. sound like the maiden the fans wanted to here this doesn't make it a great album by any stretch but after listening to "brave new world" then this it is easier to hear Bruce doing the vocals on this album than on X and it's for this very reason that Blaze fails. The di'anno albums are raw fresh & laiden with potential, Iron Maiden more so than Killers, Bruce realises that potential x10, Blaze was only a stop gap thank god for Bruce's & Adrian's reintroduction
