5.0 classic
AC/DC Back In Black
Alice in Chains Dirt
Alter Bridge Blackbird
Anathema Weather Systems
I've listened to some emotional albums before, but this is just beyond belief
Katatonia Dead End Kings
Killswitch Engage As Daylight Dies
THE definitive metalcore album, hands down. This is what metalcore should sound like.
Novembre The Blue
I thought materia was good. This album just blew me away. The guitar riffs and melodies aren't that complicated, but then they don't really need to be. Bluecracy and Cobalt of march are my favourites.
The Smashing Pumpkins Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness

4.5 superb
Alice in Chains Alice in Chains
Alter Bridge AB III
Blue Stahli Blue Stahli
Celldweller Celldweller
Debut albums don't get much better than this. One Good Reason is just amazing and Frozen redefines the word 'heavy' as far as music is concerned. Last firstborn is a bit too long but is still pretty good
Celldweller Wish Upon a Blackstar
So many genres! While the lyrics in some songs may be a but cheesy (the lucky one, tainted...) the album as a
whole is superb. Not perfect, but definitely a superb album. Best tracks are eon, I can't wait, birthright, the best
it's gonna get and Unshakeable.
Deadstar Assembly Unsaved
Disillusion Back to Times of Splendor
It's a shame so few people have heard of this band. This album is fantastic
Ektomorf Redemption
I have to say that this band is up with my favourites. There's so much power in their music.
Fades Away Perceptions
John Petrucci Suspended Animation
John Petrucci is an amazing guitarist and this is an amazing album. A few lyrics could have been nice, but when this is mostly petrucci showing off his guitar awesomeness i soon forgot about the absence of lyrics
Katatonia Night Is the New Day
Love and Death Between Here And Lost
Love it, been waiting a while for this album. Korn in every sense only lower tuning (!), no slap bass (unfortunately) and Head's vocals instead of Jon Davis' vocals. Best Nu Metal album in a long time.
Maybeshewill I Was Here For a Moment, Then I Was Gone
Metallica Beyond Magnetic
This is exactly what Metallica should sound like. You can instantly tell from the start of
Hate Train that this is what Metallica is all about.
Palms Palms
Pantera Vulgar Display of Power
Pantera were brilliant. Dimebag Darrell was a legend and this album is probably my favourite album they did. Walk is the best song of the lot.
Seba Return To Forever
Septembre Rule 3: Conceal Your Intentions
Thirteen Senses The Invitation
Debuts cannot get much better than this one. Into the Fire is an awesome first track and my personal favourite, the salt world routine, is just incredible. While I like a bit of metal i always enjoy Thirteen senses because they produce some epic sounding mellow music
Tyrant of Death Alice's Heroin Wonderland
Uneven Structure Februus

4.0 excellent
After the Burial In Dreams
Alice in Chains Black Gives Way to Blue
Alter Bridge One Day Remains
Animals As Leaders Animals as Leaders
Animals As Leaders Weightless
Bury Tomorrow The Union of Crowns
Not usually a metalcore fan but this album is exceptionally good. Clean vocals are outstanding and production is all round very good.
Crossbreed Synthetic Division
Seasons, release me and machines are the best songs on this album, but on the whole this is pretty darned good
Crossbreed KE 101
great album, although unfortunately the band have now split up, which is a real shame
Danny Byrd Rave Digger
Delta-s Voyage to Isis
Dope American Apathy
Down Down III: Over the Under
Dream Theater Black Clouds and Silver Linings
the very best of progressive metal. Songs that last about 15 years but sound absolutely epic. John Petrucci is an absolute legend and one of my facourite metal guitarists
Filter The Trouble With Angels
Hundred Reasons Shatterproof is not a Challenge
Impending Doom Baptized in Filth
Good slab of deathcore, and my light unseen is pretty darned tremendous
K3M 53cK5d11N [eMerGe-n-EvoLve]
Katatonia The Great Cold Distance
Korn Korn
Korn See You on the Other Side
Korn Korn III: Remember Who You Are
Linkin Park Hybrid Theory
24 million of these have been sold, which is an outstanding achievement for linkin park. It
certainly isn't ground-breaking, but it certainly isn't rubbish.
Lo-Pro Disintegration Effect
Manafest The Chase
Maybeshewill Not For Want Of Trying
Maybeshewill Sing The Word Hope In Four-Part Harmony
Ministry Houses Of The Molé
Mudvayne Lost and Found
'Determined' is a great opening track, but on the whole i was greatly impressed by this album
Novembre Novembrine Waltz
Novembre Materia
Oceana Birth.Eater
Oceana Clean Head
Pelican Australasia
Pelican seem to tune their guitars to earthquakes. The whole album sounds so angry. It's not musically complicated and it doesn't really have any set tempos, but that just adds to the uniqueness that makes up Pelican.
Pendulum Hold Your Colour
Although I always enjoy listening to their newer electronic rock stuff, the old drum and bass from Hold your Colour is still irresistible to listen to. The only downside is the gaps of silence between the tracks in the 2007 reissue.
Pierce the Veil Collide with the Sky
Powerman 5000 Somewhere On The Other Side Of Nowhere
Sithu Aye Cassini
Skindred Union Black
One of the best albums of 2011, and probably the best album from Skindred. Warning is fantastic, Cut Dem is brilliant, Living a Lie is so catchy it's untrue and Death to all Spies is very good. The whole album works very well.
Slipknot Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses
Sloth Dead Generation
Snot Get Some
Soilwork Stabbing the Drama
Usually I just ignore the death metal scene. But there are a few gems in the melodic death metal scene. In Flames is one of them, and this band is another one. Terrific band, Nerve is definately the best song on the album. Absolute gem of an album.
System of a Down Steal This Album!
I can see why they wanted people to steal this album. It's brilliant
The Album Leaf Into The Blue Again
The Smashing Pumpkins Zeitgeist
The Smashing Pumpkins Oceania
Unwritten Law Here's to the Mourning
Vanilla Ice Hard to Swallow
Never thought I'd listen to Vanilla Ice. Although Nu Metal is a fairly hated genre of metal, I do enjoy listening to it, and this is pretty darned good as an album. I won't buy any of the other stuff he's made (maybe Bi-polar) but this is a very good album.
Vex Red Start With A Strong & Persistant Desire

3.5 great
12 Stones The Only Easy Day Was Yesterday
Adema Adema
Adema Unstable
Adema Kill the Headlights
Adema did well with this album, after the slight disappointment with planets. Bobby reeves is a good vocalist and the album works very nicely. Just a shame that reeves left so chavez and ransom could rejoin but ended up leaving again soon afterwards.
Alien Ant Farm ANThology
American Head Charge The War Of Art
Anthrax We've Come for You All
Biohazard New World Disorder
Biohazard Uncivilization
Bring Me the Horizon Sempiternal
Never been a fan of Bring me the Horizon, but there are some pretty good tracks on this album.
BT These Hopeful Machines
Bullet for My Valentine The Poison
Celldweller Soundtrack For The Voices In My Head 2, Chapter 01
Celldweller Soundtrack for the Voices in My Head 2, Chapter 02
Coldsight Until Your Last Breath
Dark New Day New Tradition
Dope Life
Dope Group Therapy
They've matured, but managed to keep the same sort of genre, which is a good thing
Dope No Regrets
One of the main reasons I like Dope is that they stick to what they do best, rather than
flow with the trend. They still make short, catchy industrial metal/nu metal songs with
about 15,000 uses of the f-word in them, but the good thing is that it's what they're good
at.
Excision X Rated
Best tracks are X Rated, SEXisM, Deviance and Swerve. Sleepless is alright, and Jaguar isn't good at all
Filter Title Of Record
Filter Short Bus
Flybanger Headtrip to Nowhere
Helmet Size Matters
Icon For Hire Scripted
Korn Life Is Peachy
Korn Follow the Leader
Korn Untouchables
Some of Korn's greatest songs (In my opinion) are on here, which include Here To Stay and Hollow Life.
Korn The Path of Totality
Korn don't carry the electronic rock off as well as other bands do, but all of the songs, especially Narcissistic Cannibal, are unbelievably catchy. It will probably get very boring after a while, though
Level Level
Limp Bizkit Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water
There's nothing particularly special about Nu Metal, but almost every song from this genre is so freaking catchy it's hard not to give it a positive rating. This album is nothing special, but it's fun to listen to
Limp Bizkit Significant Other
Limp Bizkit Three Dollar Bill Y'all
Best Limp Bizkit album ever recorded. Yes Fred Durst is a douchebag and yes Wes Borland is a bit weird, and I hate him for taking the mick out of Dream Theater, but this is a good album.
Limp Bizkit Gold Cobra
Autotunage is really just a joke about how crap some of today's mainstream pop artists really are. This album is not serious at all, in any way, shape or form. But it's good because of that.
Linkin Park Meteora
Not as good as Hybrid theory but not as bad as Minutes to midnight
Machine Head Supercharger
By no means their best material, but this is a good album nonetheless. The single crashing around you is pretty good
Mike Oldfield Tubular Bells II
Motograter Motograter
Nine Lashes World We View
Novembre Dreams D'Azur
One Way Mirror One Way Mirror
Destination device is the best song on this album. All the other songs are almost as good.
Pleymo Episode 2: Medicine Cake
Puddle of Mudd Re: (Disc)overed
All in all, a decent set of cover tracks from this band. TNT cover is probably my favourite.
Seventh Day Slumber The Anthem of the Angels
Slipknot Slipknot
Slipknot Iowa
Stepa Stepa
Switchfoot Vice Verses
T3chn0ph0b1a Grave New World
Twin Method The Volume Of Self
Twin Method simply carry on the general nu metal trend, with added industrial feel, especially in Lost Signal, which starts off with an electronic drum beat that would probably sound just at home in a drum and bass album. They carry the trend on very well, though. It's just a shame that they have split up.
Twisted Method Escape From Cape Coma
Unloco Becoming I

3.0 good
Creed Full Circle
Dark New Day Twelve Year Silence
Daughtry Break the Spell
Better than their previous two albums, partly because they actually write most of their stuff by themselves now.
Dead by April Dead by April
closest to pop metal can get. Not too bad, but can get quite boring after a few listens...
Dirty Wormz The Infektion
Dope Felons And Revolutionaries
Not as good as Life, but this is a debut album, and for a debut this is pretty good
Engel Blood of Saints
I don't like the lead singers voice that much, but the music works pretty well, has a real industrial feel to it, and question your place has some cool dubstep features in it.
Korn Take a Look in the Mirror
Korn Issues
Limp Bizkit Results May Vary
Ok there are a few bad songs on this album (Red Light Green Light, Behind Blue Eyes, Build A
Bridge, Down Another Day) but there are some good songs on here (Eat You Alive, Phenomenon,
Head For The Barricade) so this album is not awful. While it's got some of Limp Bizkit's
worst songs on it, it's also got some pretty good ones too. It's not all good, but it's not
all bad either.
Motograter Pre-Release
Novembre Classica
Seasons After Through Tomorrow
Slaves on Dope Metafour
Slipknot All Hope Is Gone
Sloth Acedia
Trapt Trapt
Solid slab of Early 2000's Alt Metal. Singles are all pretty good, and Headstrong is catchy
as hell.

2.5 average
Black Veil Brides Wretched and Divine
Meh not that bad, their old material is worse. Band is extremely overrated though.
Emmure Slave To The Game
Korn Untitled
Linkin Park Living Things
much, much, much better than a thousand suns. Still not up to their first two records, but definitely a step in the right direction
No One No One
Average nu metal stuff. Not good, but not bad either.

2.0 poor
Linkin Park Minutes to Midnight
There are a few good songs on this album (No More Sorrow, Given Up, Bleed It Out and What I've Done), but on the whole this album was a disappointment. It seems that Linkin Park are moving away from rock to mainstream electronic stuff, and it even seems like they've almost completely ditched guitars and acoustic drums in some of the songs.
Powerman 5000 Destroy What You Enjoy
This certainly does destroy what I enjoy... About how awesome Powerman 5000's music is

1.5 very poor
Linkin Park A Thousand Suns
just because nu metal isn't mainstream anymore doesn't mean that you have to move away from it. Korn still do nu metal. So do Taproot and Staind. Linkin Park used to be great, now they are not. The funny thing is that my windows media player classifies this album as 'metal'. Yeah right, this is not metal in any way shape or form.
Lou Reed and Metallica Lulu
It's clear that Metallica have tried something different here, like Linkin Park did with a thousand suns and Korn has just done with the path of totality. However, it is clear that it hasn't worked. Metallica have recently released a new EP called Beyond Magnetic. This is Metallica returning to the Heavy Metal stuff that everyone is familiar of.

1.0 awful
Bullet for My Valentine Temper Temper
BFMV have some good songs off their previous albums but this is shocking
Lil Wayne Rebirth
Poor album. Awful rapping, stupid lyrics, autotuned-till-it-hurts singing and shocking guitar work...
Lou Reed Metal Machine Music
This album has no real musical structure. It is, to put it simply, 64 minutes and 11 seconds of, as Rolling Stone magazine put it, the "tubular groaning of a galactic refrigerator"
Nicki Minaj Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded
Holy crap this album is awful. Even a rating of 1/5 is 2 ratings too high
