Everybody plays together nicely and the result is classic. There are no weak tracks here.

The Beatles Abbey Road
The Clash London Calling
Beautifully diverse, conceived, produced and performed, London Calling is shocking. This album has the trademark irreverence and zest of punk with a fascinating mix of pop and meticulously constructed melodies and rhythms. It is that good. If you don't understand the hype try to get past the radio hits and listen to the whole album.

4.5 superb
Against Me! Searching for a Former Clarity
Some tracks are great (like Unprotected Sex with Multiple Partners), others are decent (Problems), some are somewhat boring (Pretty Girls) and some are interesting departures for Against Me! (like the ballad Violence). Though I found some of these tracks (like Miami) less accessible than the Crime As Forgiven By EP, I'm happy to report that this LP grew on me.

Arkells Jackson Square
Black Breath Sentenced To Life
Black Sabbath Heaven and Hell
Black Sabbath Paranoid
Black Sabbath Black Sabbath
Its best to listen through the album in one sitting than to listen to any of the tracks individually. The interplay between Ward, Geezer and Tony is amazing. While the tempo and melody change nearly once every 30 seconds, the atmosphere is consistently...Sabbath.

the song writing and melodies are consistenly soothing and endure in the ears after you put your headphones down and walk away. I especially like The Shrine/An Argument
Fugazi 13 Songs
Germs M.I.A.: The Complete Anthology
Hot Water Music Fuel for the Hate Game
Iceage New Brigade
Illscarlett EPdemic
This EP has an excellent mix of sounds and the production is higher than you may expect. I've listened to this EP frequently for around a year in a variety of contexts - from studying to commuting to washing dishes - and I haven't been disappointed a single time. The band works well together, the guitar licks are catchy and bright while the rhythm is appropriately progressive and tight.

Johnny Cash American III: Solitary Man
Johnny Cash At Folsom Prison
Kvelertak Kvelertak
Led Zeppelin Led Zeppelin III
Miles Davis Bitches Brew
I used to be a fan of Davis but one that did not appreciate this album. I used to feel like it wasn't for me, like I didn't "get" what it was putting down. The strength of this album is that it is very good at conveying *urgency.* Records that try to convey too many ideas or feelings at one time risk losing some people. Bitches Brew is a chaotic mess and a glorious one.

The Beatles Let It Be
"Everybody had a good year. Everybody let their hair down. Everybody pulled their socks up. (yeah.) Everybody put their foot down. Oh yeah. Yeah!" While shorter tracks like For Your Blue and Maggie May are somewhat weak, Two of Us, Across the Universe and I've got a Feeling are truly great. The lyrics in this album can be really strong at times and this shows us that not all musicians must write misanthropic, brooding summaries of this week in the world sucking if they want to produce beautiful music. The positivity in Across the Universe is even more striking when we understand that it was produced by the Beatles at their least synergistic.

Things I like about this album: concision, consistency, atmosphere, the progressive elements, strings and the spoken word sections. Things I don't like: a few seconds of dead air during the beginning of Moya.
Gorillaz Plastic Beach
This concept album was a grower for me; I was initially underwhelmed after Demon Days and D-sides though over repeated listens the textures and taste of Plastic Beach ultimately left me wanting more. I especially liked Empire Ants half way through (around 2:24).

The mood of the album impresses but the lack of variety diminishes its long-term appeal. Specifically, if you want a great, melancholic mope-fest album I'd probably recommend this one but if you wanted more than one sound I'd recc something else.

On paper Fucked Up are my kind of band; boisterous, abrasive and a badass girl is playing bass. Ultimately Fucked Up allow their songs to go on for minutes after they ceased to entertain. Each song on this LP is fully twice as long as I would prefer considering the amount of ideas per song (Fucked Up are no Propagandhi). In execution, Fucked Up fail to impress with repetitive song structures, solid vocals and drums, lack-luster guitar work and barely-there bass. Queen of Hearts, A Little Death and perhaps another 12 minutes off the 77 minute total runtime merit a 4.5 but this album is SUBMERGED IN FLUFF.

The guitar jumps while the bass wanders around and with singer Gord Downie in a semi-sensual way. While the drumming doesn't take away from the album, it doesn't do enough to stand out. The swells in this album contribute to a breathing in the structure (bumpy tracks like Fireworks are offset by a bevy beautiful ballads like Bobby Cadgeon and The Rules).

As the band themselves have admitted, this first album from the Toronto punks is unbuffered and simple. Despite the simplicity of the guitar chords (a few scales and mainly power chords), the bass lines are always groovy. A fun, though at dry, debut which only hints at the great sounds to come from these guys.
