This album is definitely a grower. It's also a nice return to form. Dum Spiro Spero was a lot of good ideas poorly executed and it seems they're playing more to their strengths on Arche; which are hooks and atmosphere.

I would rate this a 5 with all the cool experimentation these guys are doing. However some of the more metal sections bored me with very unimaginative low riffs that could have been much more interesting. Also I really must complain about the low tunings used as they cloud the music somewhat. When you have all three instruments playing in the bass range, it just sounds cloudy and unbalanced, there's no middle, only low tones and high screechy ones. Other than that though, everything else is superb, the choruses are well thought out and powerful. The guitar work is the most technical for them to date, as well as the drumming. While I still dont think it compares to Uroboros, this is a fine next step in an ever evolving band.

I'm going to try to go into this with an open mind and ignore the massive trolling that has taken place since victory signed these kids. rSo the band throws around a lot of ideas, and while I think they intended well, nothign really worked. The instrumentalists just aren't good enough to play the mathy grindcore (trying to imitate IWABO a bit) sections and those fall flat. Primarily the drumming is very unimaginative and lacks precision. rThe poppy electronic sections go a step further and force the listener not to take them seriously. I don't know who came up with the idea to put bubblegum pop choruses in metalcore, but this Attack Attack malarkey needs to stop, it just sounds bad.rOverall this entire album feels like a bunch of random musical ideas duck-taped together with pro-tools. It shows a lack of maturity in songwriting and simply floods the market with this shitty electronic/core genre that really only few bands can pull off without sound and looking like total toolbags. rSkip this incoherent horse dung and listen to Enter Shikari or iwrestledabearonce instead.

MUCC Karma
MUCC's 2010 album completely changes the sound and concept of the band. Many newcomers may like it, but those who have grown accustomed to their signature stripped down sound may be quickly turned off. Effects, editing, and synth beats adorn the album that tries to appeal to almost every genre. I cannot honestly say that that is something they pull off here. After the shining album that was Kyuutai, this is a stunning disappointment.
