| It takes a lot of listens to actually get into the album. This is not the same anthemic rock you heard in OK Computer, nor the harmonic sounds you've heard in Kid A and In Rainbows. The instrumental work is choppy and it really feels old. The production is outdated and it feels more distorted than usual. But once you get into the album and look past its flaws, this is really good. Yorke is at his best falsetto performance since Amnesiac, and tracks such as 'Morning Mr. Magpie', 'Codex', and to a lesser extent, 'Lotus Flower', should more than please fans. It just takes a lot of listening to appreciate it, and even then you can't fully praise it. |
