Album is an absolute monster and sets the bar even higher for Aussie prog. "Keeping Stone: Water Awake", "Unturning", and "Keeping Stone: Sound on Fire" are my highlights so far, but every song is good, which is a huge feat across 2 hours + of music.

Cynic Kindly Bent to Free Us
Cynthesis ReEvolution
Outstanding follow-up to DeEvolution. Tasteful prog rock that doesn't skimp on emotion, atmosphere, and melody. Erik steals the show. One of his best vocal performances ever.

I think this has potential to be their best album to date. The original tracks show them firing at all cylinders. Stepping out of their comfort zone, allowed them to try a lot of new things. I also like that unplugged doesn't mean 100% ballads. These tracks have tons of energy and attitude. Plus, Lajon is at the top of his game.
Shining (NOR) International Blackjazz Society
Soilwork The Living Infinite
Taramis Stretch of the Imagination
Excellent technical thrash album from Australia. Reminds me of a more aggressive and thrashier version of Watchtower. Way ahead of its time for 1991.

Abnormal Thought Patterns Manipulation Under Anesthesia
This album keeps growing on me. I'm usually not a fan of instrumental metal, but this is very engaging and well written.
Arsis Unwelcome
Black Sabbath 13
Danny Elfman Big Mess
Album rules. I was apprehensive about its length, but every song is good and different, but the album itself is cohesive. Definitely recommended for fans of Bowie, NIN, System of a Down, Devin Townsend, and of course Elfman's scores.

Man, these guys know how to right huge riffs! Really digging my first few spins.

En Minor When The Cold Truth Has Worn Its Miserable Welcome
I think this is a really cool album and a cool musical risk for Anselmo. I've been jamming this a lot lately.
Enslaved Ruun
Giraffe Tongue Orchestra Broken Lines
Greg Puciato Child Soldier: Creator of God
Nice mix of noise rock, grunge, industrial, and his love for 80s synth pop. This is a lot closer to a more rock oriented Black Queen than I was expecting from the singles. Not disappointed. Also, his release strategy was spot on. This is what every indie musician and label should do if something leaks.
Hail Spirit Noir Mannequins
I'm surprised to see such low ratings for this. It pretty much delivers what it promised: a one-off cheesy 80s VHS horror synthwave soundtrack to a non-existent movie about alien mannequins. It's a fun album and it sounds like the band had fun making it. Cool atmosphere, great synth work, interesting melodies, and the appropriate amount of self-aware b-horror cheese to welcome the Fall season.

Kill Devil Hill Revolution Rise

Korn The Paradigm Shift
Easily their best album since Issues. It actually reminds me of Issues, just with a bigger sound and more electronics. It's nice to have Head back and hear some actual atmosphere in the songs.

Lacuna Coil Unleashed Memories

I think this is their best album to date. The songwriting is more memorable and the leads are excellent.

A pissed off sludgy mess. Unconventional and chaotic. This stuff is probably awesome live!
Philm Fire From The Evening Sun
Really interesting and diverse album. Lombardo crushes it behind the kit. I can see them touring with Faith No More in 2015.

The Residents The Ghost of Hope
Probably their most accessible and interesting album in years. The music has a strong sense of melody and atmosphere, while the lyrics/storytelling keep you hooked. I dropped off The Residents train for a few years, but I'm happy I hopped back on.
The Residents Metal, Meat, and Bone
Times of Grace Songs of Loss and Separation
Tomahawk Tonic Immobility
Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross Mank OST
Wild Throne Blood Maker
Ross Robinson certainly has a distinct style in his production. Claustrophobic & intense guitars/bass, frantic drumming, and emotive vocals. This is a strong EP with plenty of great playing. Looking forward to the full-length.
